Greeting and Happy Holidays.

I need help from the GJ Braintrust, Please.

I wish I had the space in my new garage for a floor model metal horizontal bandsaw, but unfortunately my 21' BassCat takes priority. I am just getting into metal fabrication and in the interest of dust avoidance (abrasive wheel chopsaws are the invention of the devil) I am considering one of the benchtop horizontal bandsaws.

My research indicates that the Italian made Femi saws are popular but not perfect according to a few YT videos. Wondering if you have any recommendations? I want something good which will dry cut 45 degrees at 4". Currently with the Zorro 30% flashsale, the Dake 2hp benchtop is pretty attractive and a lot less expensive than the Femi. Only concern is the Femi is 85lbs and the Dake is only 40lbs, should I interpret this weight difference as a lake of durability?

Of course if there's another alternative I would love to hear from you too.

Help me Obi Won Kenobi, You're my only hope....... sale ends tonight haha

Many Thanks,

-Paul

I think the Dake is fairly new to market so not a lot of info on the web for them. I have a Princess Auto version of a Femi but it only weighs about 40-50lbs. It owes me nothing (it's earned it's keep) What cost is the Dake? Dake is a good name although these are likely re-stamped made in China (like mine maybe).

That Dake looks like a clone of the smaller HEM 782XL, which is $535 from Trick Tools.

I have the HEM 782XL at work, its ok, lots of plastic to brake, not great adjustments, but overall a decent machine for the price and capacity.

Note that the ubiquitous 4x6 bandsaws are pretty small and low to the ground. Mine lives between my pedestal grinder and the table saw, tucked away under the wing of the table saw.
