The point of going wider is for the smaller wheel base vehicles. You'll pick a full size truck no problem on a narrow lift but pull in a VW GTI and good luck. The arms will be too long on a narrow setup to hit the pick points.

I found with the triple telescoping arms you can pick up any vehicle without any problems. I love mine and I have the narrow. Ive picked up 4 door daullies and G37s and my 69 GTO with no issues.

Yep. I have the narrow Bend pak (don't remember the exact model number) and my wife recently got a compact suv which cannot be lifted at the factory lift points because the lift arms are too long.

Beyond that the narrow width is just an overall pia and I wish I had gone with the wide version. Narrow version can be a pain getting into and out of the larger vehicles (like my 2500). In addition I use my lift more frequently for other lifting chores beyond just vehicles, and the wider stance is more versatile in that regard. Like the cow feeder I fabricated using the lift to hold it up while I ran the bazillion welds on the thing.
