Bending 1/2"x1/2" SS

Hi all I need to bend some SS square stock to fab a sissybar. I have a rosebud for my oxy/acet setup. But I cant seem to get a 90* without it tearing the outer radius. I have tried heating it up way past red and start to melt and still no joy. Any suggestions? Maybe mild steel? Heres a pic of what I'm trying to do. Sorry about the pic orientation.

You trying it with 300 series ? Get some 409 or 430.

Yea I believe it's 304

try heating the inside of the bend . meaning that when you are bending keep the inside of your bend hot . ( orange ) Ive had good luck doing it that way . Heating the complete area would allway,s crack the outer edge being bent

Ease the corners a bit to reduce the possibility of fracture.

Your inside bend radius is too small. The only way I know of to achiev that shape is to cut, weld and dress.

As mentioned above. soften the inside radi more OR cut/weld/blend.

If you want the sharp 90, miter cut, weld and blend as mentioned. Otherwise you will need to increase the radius of the bend with a die.
