Bendix air dryer

Has anybody used a over the road truck air dryer (think air brakes) for moisture removal from a shop air system? The cartridges are cheap for me and easy to change. I was thinking maybe one a year for the amount that I use my air compressor.

any problem with my thinking?

Harbor freight $40. I do a lot of sand blasting and my air is super dry. It takes silica which HF also stocks. Easy to change and the silica lasts a few months with moderate use for me.

I already have a used AD-9 Bendix air dryer, brackets and new filters, I just thought it would work.

The truck it came off of had a 16.6 cfm pump at 1250 rpm, and two large air tanks about 60 gallons total. If the unit could handle that much CFM I would think it could handle my compressor for a large sandblasting/painting project.

I only run 125 PSI and thats below what the Bendix air dryer is rated for.

how does that work? most reviews say it is a terrible part and leaks, looks like most reviews are people who thought the silica was supposed to last forever.

Right now I have a Kobalt ai/water separator going into another air/water separator with a regulator, I was going to remove one of the separators and add this instead, would I be choking air flow if I have the silica and water separator going into yet another water separator?
