So I have an electrician coming out to install a 220v plug in the wall. Is there any benefit to placing it 6' high so I don't forever and always have to step over it on the ground?

I put mine up high (100 inches) works good and not in the way if I move the lift on casters.

I have a spiral wire drop from the ceiling with a switch on the four post column. Works great and allows me to move the lift if needed. Mounted the plastic outdoor switch box on a piece of plywood with two 18 Inch magnets (HF) glued on the back. This way I can move the whole switch box off the lift and no holes drilled in the column.

My plugs are mounted high also, and I also have a dual pole cutoff switch mounted about 6' off the floor on the pump leg in case the Bend Pac switch ever gets stuck and to keep grand kids prying fingers from raising the lift when I am not around (even though they have been told not to touch) "An ounce of protection is worth a pound of cure"

I have mine right next to the pump. Only because I didn't want to run another outlet to run the welder. Just unplug the lift and plug in my welder and done.

Do those of you with the HD-7 or HD-9 have any suggestions as to which length is better and to options? I will be getting the wide version since I work on my cars and may sometimes drop a motor or trans from the bottom.

I am torn on runway length. The shorter HD-7W gives me more workshop space in my 23x28 garage, and 99% of the time, I will be lifting smaller cars -- BMW E36, BMW E60, but may buy an SUV like the BMW X5 in the future and may very rarely lift a Suburban. No dually quad cab long bed trucks for me.

I have learned that the new RJ-4500 bridge jack is not a good choice for low cars -- the center section grew in height as part of the certification process. I have to find a compatible rolling bridge jack and there are a few that may fit, but I need to figure out how their wheels sit on the Bendpak rails to determine the minimum height above the runners (and likewise, it cannot hang down too low or I won't be able to lower the lift all the way to the floor).

Also wondering about the bottle air accessory versus using a compressor. I have compressors, but don't know that I want to run one every time I use the lift and don't yet know whether I will end up with a manual or air bridge jack.

Tempted by the caster accessory, since being able to move the jack a little would be convenient. I may locate it slightly differently on the rare occasions when I lift a Suburban, to better fit the cutout I am making in my ceiling for maximum lifting height, and also don't know exactly where it will fit best in my garage. I have a general idea, but not precisely.

For the ramps, it has been recommended to use the plastic race ramps since they are even lighter than the extended aluminum ramps and I will be removing them rather than leaving them attached when the lift is up.

I put my recept in the ceiling above the anticipated location of my future lift. Made it a 240V. Ran air up there as well although I'm leaning away from Bendpak a bit which means I may just put a hose reel there instead.
Cheers.

Solid responses guys and thanks to Nitroshark for the pic.

I think I'll go high. Need to consider the air hose location too, hadn't thought of that...
