Bendpak adjustable runners

I'm looking at the HD9 four post lift and I noticed in the specifications that the runways are adjustable. Can someone explain to me how that works?? I don't I noticed this feature on other manufacturers lifts. If it is what they say , I'm sold as I want to make sure I can put my classic cars and my pickup on it. Any information would be appreciated.

The "floating" ramp that is not bolted in place can be slid in or out to deal with a MG MIDGET or a really wide VIPER. All the cables are in the other rail. The rail would be very hard to knock off of it's runners front and back.

Wow, that's a great feature. I was looking at a Direct lift but its 75" from the outside of the runway to the other side. My Ram is 75.5" outside wheel to outside wheel but my 70 Challenger would fit OK on the lift . So having an adjustagble side is super. They should advertise that more.

I have my HD9 set with the "adjustable" ramp at the widest point. At least in my experience...it's not easily adjustable. Mine is bolted in place...as I think it should be. It would need to be unbolted....moved...and bolted again.

That being said...since my lift is in an end bay...I park my Excursion on it most of the time...with the ramps at the widest setting....and I've never had a problem with fitting a vehicle on the ramps in that position. I've had a 1938 Nash, my Vipers, our daily drivers...all kinds of cars on the lift with no problems using the wider setting.

In fact, when I assembled the lift, I put the ramp at the widest spot...and have never moved it.

The non powered runner is bolted in place and is adjustible in 2 positions. It is not very easy to move. I keep mine in the narrow position for my vette. If you use the wide position the drip trays won't fit on the lift.

That's a good point, if the drip trays don't fit at the widest position , what about the hydraulic jack RJ45 (I think that's the number).

I have my HD9 set on the widest position, I was able to bottom load my engine on the Rabbit GTI between the ramps.

The RJ45 expands to fit the wider position.

In maybe wrong, I'll have to go look at mine,but I believe you can turn them either way. Meaning the drip trays are not square. They will work in either width set up. Surely the engineers Thought of that!

Odd. My HD9 has drip trays that fit in the wide position. I set my ramps in the wide position and have never moved them (moving them would be a total PITA anyway).

The jack trays only work in the wide position also.

The drip trays that came with mine will only fit the narrow position. Of coarse I set mine ramps on the widest position.

It looks like on the widest position the wheels on my Dodge Ram will be on the outside portion of the runways. My Mustang will be towards the inside portion when it is on there. I would think the wider setting would work for a lot more vehicles than the narrow position. Just depends what your choice of vehicle is. I love my 9XW so far it seems to be fairly versatile.
