I'm considering either the HD-9 or HD-9ST for my garage. To avoid any issues I want it to be installed by one of their dealers. The website says in their FAQ for a 9K four post is estimated at $395-$550

I contacted them for an estimate which was much higher at $850, I asked if they could check a few different installers.

"That’s actually the best price quoted everyone else was in the $1,000 range which I found to be very high." - rep

I know an estimate is just that, but actual cost is double?? What experience did you have?

The install price might be lower online due to the cost of delivery not being part of the estimate. I checked around and found people saying they will deliver and install for $X dollars. If all I needed was install, the prices were close to $300-$500. The issue is that unless you have a forklift at your home, or a way to unload 2000 pounds from a truck, you'll need a delivery fee, or a trailer of your own to pick it up and bring it home.

Or, put some plywood down to protect your floor and hire a rollback tow truck to pick the lift up at your nearest freight terminal and slide it off onto some 4x4's on your floor. Then you can get the dealer in to install it or get some friends to help lift the parts and assemble it yourself. An engine hoist would be helpful if you have one.

Installation does not cover pickup and delivery. May not cover your "shim Pak" if needed to level since installers didn't place your floor. Many unknowns here. It's an estimate. Install it yourself and save the Bucks!

similar to quotes i got for the same lift. Include them picking up at terminal, bringing to me. The price doesn't seem too bad when the only work I'm doing is writing a check compare to the alternative, stressing about a trailer, flatbed, lifting 400 lb runways.

If you want a little value, ask them to bolt it down, which should be included in the price. Even thought most people don't.

Remember, none of the installers will have the moving kit for your lift, or anything like that..
if you didn't order it, they assemble it and hopefully it is in the right spot. If it is in the right spot bolting down isn't too bad. Considering you may need to level it if you move it.

Where I live, the installation was $899 plus $400 transportation fee. And did not include any "special handling" fees which I may have paid due to the small garage I had and the difficulty installers would have.

My installation quote also did not include shimming and anchoring lift to the floor.

I see that you are from Chicago, any major location like NYC, LA, etc will have similar prices. I am also from a major metropolitan area. The other issue is, the installer companies that I spoke to (3 of them) really did not sound at all very promising. The reality is, this type of service in these big cities usually dont have the same level of quality you would expect had you had this service done in a much smaller city or in a low cost location. I lived in Texas as well as midwest for several years and I can tell you these types of installation services or any other labor related work was tremendously different in quality. Take a car dealership for example. An average technician working at a BMW dealer's service here earns about 60k. That is a decent amount of income in a state like Oklahoma or Missouri whereas in northeast, with 60k, you are below poverty level. As a result, you get extremely bad service. You can eat food off the floor of a car dealerships' service department in midwestern states whereas the picture where I live is completely different.

$350 for installing a lift like this is a joke in my opinion. Where I live, in my particular neighborhood, they charge $200 to clean snow from your driveway. They charge $400/month to mow your lawn. They charge $20,000 to redo your driveway. I can go on and on. I am not in a very rich neighborhood. The cost of living here is just so expensive compared to rest of the country.

In my case, paying $2900 for a lift and then paying $1300 and still have a piss poor job done was not something I wanted to deal with and to be honest I am glad I didnt do the installer thing because with the number of issues Bendpak lift had and the special handling it required, if an installer did the install, the entire process would have been 2 or 3 times more difficult since now in addition to Bendpak, I would have to run after the installers.

try to find the installer who is also a dealer. So if there is any problems. The dealer should take care for it. I found a guy who does this. Install for dealerships and home guys like us

He is not really happy with BP quality though and recommend a rotary.

Now that I think about it. I think I'm starting to stay away from BP due to all the rust and bent parts. There is a video on YouTube showing bendpak rust on the same lift you are thinking of buying
