I've had my lift for just over 10 years now, and noticed recently that there's an occasional drip of ATF on the floor from the end of the hydraulic cylinder. I only use the lift once a month, if that, and then it's usually left in the fully raised position with a car stored on it on the locks. I used to release all hydraulic pressure, but a few years ago a friend recommended that I leave a little pressure to make the seals last longer (I've heard the same about not leaving your suspension fully drooping for the same reasons).
Anyways, if I have to clean up a drop of fluid once a month, no big deal. My only concern is whether this can lead to a sudden failure where the lift will suddenly drop whatever I'm lifting (even if only down to the next safety stop). So I guess my question is, at what point should I start considering repairing/replacing the cylinder?
