BendPak HD-9 Runway Adjustment

Recently purchased a BendPak HD-9 and had it installed last week. Inquired with the guys installing the lift regarding adjustability of the runways. They indicated that they were not adjustable and holes would have to be drilled in order to accommodate any adjustment.

While looking at the lift this morning, it appears that the runway on the non-power side of the lift can be moved inboard several inches and there are holes to accommodate the adjustment. Can anybody with an HD-9 confirm? This doesn't create any type of a balance issue with the lift?

Agree with sublimate. The nonpowered side on my HD9 has two positions. Mine has been in the wide position ever since I put it together. I've had everything from a Model A to my Excursion on it.

It can be adjusted, but I have kept mine in the wide position for the last 6 years seems to fit most everything, moving it to the narrow position should not create an in-balance. To those that think it will create an in-balance think about this my HD 14 has one fixed (pump side) and one movable ramp that does not have any holes to make it fixed.

The manual states that it can be at either location.
I also keep my HD-9 to wide side and never have to move it.

Not only is it adjustable but I believe the rolling jacks that Bend Pak sells have adjustable rollers to fit the rails in either position (http://www.bendpak.com/car-lifts/4-post-bridge-jacks/rj-45.aspx).

I have an HD-9 and set it up in the wide position and have never needed to change it. Of course, changing it would be kind of a PITA, because the rail is one heavy mofo. I have had everything from my BIL's Chevy 2500 Diesel down to my neighbor's Cobra replica on it with this spacing and have had no problems.

I think you'd need to be working on something really small, like a Bugeye Sprite or an MG to need to move the rails into the narrow position.

I bought the JP-3 jack platform and it appears it only works on the lift with the runways in the narrow setting.

Is the RJ3 an older design? I don't see it on their website. The currenet rolling jacks appear to have a sliding roller system that fits the rails from 30-something inches up to about 47 inches apart.

The RJ-45 has adjustable width. JP-3 is the sliding jack tray (fixed width). JP-6 is telescoping width.

Quite please with the jack, but the rollers were ceased with paint when delivered. Had to disassemble the rollers to strip off the paint and free them up.
