This is certainly no surprise. Another bendpak lift that doesn't work after the customer installs it. Oh but wait - JSK the VP rescues the day. If bendpak fixed their china quality issues they wouldn't need to have their VP scouring internet message boards for bad product. These lifts should be sold at harbor freight. That's the quality level they are at....

Yuan Watcher,

Seems that you’re a new Garage Journal member - welcome aboard. A currency trader?

Sorry you feel that way. I do however think you are slightly off base. I don’t scour the boards, I stay in touch with the market and Garage Journal happens to be one of my favorite forums. This thread is another personal one for me as I took the day off, drove 200 miles round trip and held Steve’s hand through the entire purchase, delivery and set-up. I like to get involved. And if you think it’s for all the incredible profit, think again. I turned wrenches for a living when I was younger and still am passionate about cars. Steve’s install went perfect as usual. The jack modification was a special fabrication suited for Steve’s particular needs. Could I have charged Steve a handful of cash for the special mod, sure I could have, but that is not what wins customers. Jerrod’s jack was not a China problem; it reared its ugly head when we redesigned our jacks from sliders to rollers.

If you only knew how far BendPak goes out of their way to please customers you might feel a little callow. You can’t hide from Google and the social community so if BendPak was as substandard as you imply it would be pretty easy to find out. I hope you return to this forum. If you do you’ll find it addicting; great people and grown-up topics. It’s a refreshing place to return to when you need some sense of maturity. In the off chance you may be in the market for a lift in the near future, I would love to prove you wrong.

-all the best.

Jeff

Jeff I would not sweat it at all. The one post wonder "YuanWatcher" is just another internet attention troll playing on his moms computer while she is out. We all know the service and bang for the buck Bendpak lifts offer. No need to defend your product. Keep up the good work, Pete.

Just to clarify-
My installation went perfect. Crew calls & shows up on time. No phony excuses, they get the job done. Lift works great & fits in my not-so-deep garage perfectly.
The rolling jack works fine on my other cars as-is. Works on the Infiniti, my 55 & would work on my roadster with some blocks- or some minor mods. I mentioned to Jeff that the jack would be better if a few mods could be made to it. Jeff asked me to send him some pics & I did. Jeff said in the thread he would lower it. My plan was to narrow it myself (I know welding) & would have been ok with it if Jeff declined to make the mods. However- this just shows you what lengths Jeff & BendPak go for customer service.
In my book- I made the right choice buying the BendPak.
It was also nice having Jeff show up to check the garage & what lift would fit best. Prior to Jeff coming out- we were planning on the tall lift w/ the shorter ramps. Not for the height- for the length! It uses short ramps.
Jeff made the whole process painless, he knows his ****.
I wish my garage door guy was as concerned w/ my happiness & my schedule as BendPak was! That was a 6 week war that just finished last Friday. Even though the job turned out excellent in the end, the war along the way was hardly worth it. I love the door but would NOT recommend them. They could learn alot from Jeff!

The Bendpak guys stopped by my place today to drop off a custom part that Jeff designed for my lift. It looks and fits perfectly, and the guys were here bright and early as promised. I have NEVER thought that I didn't make the right decision when going with BendPak!

WOW! First post? What a great first impression you are making. I see you like sarcasm...hope you noted mine!

It's too bad that you don't know Jeff personally (I do) and it sounds like you will NEVER have the honor of doing business with Bendpak. I certainly hope they don't allow you to buy anything from them. Sounds like Harbor Freight is the place for you!

Yeah whatever. It's seems you probally have a tie to some other lift company. Don't be jealous, you sound just like ***** from ***... All cutdowns and frustration with no facts or specs to back it up.. Let's all hope his lift doesn't "fold like butter".. My BP's went together perfectly, Jeff and BP tech support answered every single pre-purchase question with specific specs and answers unlike the other companies I contacted. And I've also gotten great after sales support as well.

They modified a custom jack for Steves 32 ford, no other lift company tries to help out homeowners like BP/Jeff is doing, not even the company that is dedicated to selling lifts to homeowners.

There are lots of other great lifts out there, and maybe some are better. But for diy support and customizations BP is currently giving the best options and advice for forum members.

Well, I got the jack home.

Does not quite fit on the rails on one side, but at least I believe I can grind down the crappy welding on it to get the clearance I need to make the wheels on the jack ride on their rails. If the fabrication was correct it would work.
As in my pictures I posted above, the plates on either side of the jack are not welded in properly. The plate on one side, neither weld point is flush. The opposite plate, one weld point is flush, The other is not.
I'll see what I can do with it.

Ive been on the fence about getting one of those jacks for mine but was concerned about the height/clearance.

Can someone please tell me how high the pads are when fully retracted? Vipers are low.
Arms are 2" above runway, the tube is 2 1/2" above runway.

Thanks Steves32....looks like a Viper will indeed clear those. Damn. You guys are enablers.

Also, to those that think or imply the quality of these lifts is suspect...you're way off. Mine's been in use over two years and I have zero complaints. In fact, I think it's very nicely made.

We all know that in mass produced items there can be issues. I think it's how a firm deals with these issues that proves it's mettle.

A friend of mine has an older USA made BendPak. Only difference I can see are the runway rails & mine is shinier than his.
