Hello,

I am new to the forum, but appreciate any help/guidance that anyone can provide.

Anyone know of a good BendPak installer in the Houston area that can deliver residential and assemble an HD-9? (not bolting down)

I can assemble if I can just find someone to deliver to my home, but also happy to pay for assembly.

I searched the forum first and saw someone mention "MDS Equipment", but cannot seem to figure out how to find them.

TIA!

My HD-9 was delivered by a semi-trailer to my home.

I used my 2-ton engine hoist to lift one end up in the trailer. The driver used his pallet jack under the other end. Was able to bring out the HD-9 to the end of the trailer.

Lowered my end onto the ground.

Repositioned the hoist to pick up the end still on the trailer.

The driver then drove the truck forward to clear the HD-9.

Set the HD-9 on the ground.

Tried to use the 1000 pound HF furniture dolly but the wheels are too small for my asphalt driveway. Built a dolly out of some scrap 2x8s and large casters. The other end was on my old 4-wheel hand truck. Used my John Deere lawn tractor to drag/wheel it into my garage.

Because this took some time and much extra effort by the driver, I cash tipped him.

Had a younger person (son) to help me set it up initially. There are some really good and current Bendpak step by step (almost anyway) installs on Youtube.

Here is my install write up.

Thanks for the reply.

Yep, getting it off the truck is the major issue for me... don't have an engine hoist, but I guess I could buy one... I guess the other option might be to try and find a company that will pickup from the shipping terminal and deliver, bringing a folk lift along with them...

Some people have used a roll-back wrecker to pick it up at the terminal and "insert" into the garage. The distance from the terminal to garage may be cost prohibitive depending on mileage charges. Some have rented/borrowed a trailer and/or a truck.

You probably know someone that you could help you with transportation in exchange for beer and steak and gas money.

I bought the 2-ton hoist at HF with 20% off. Getting their webbed sling worked well.

You WILL use that hoist to move the power ramp around.

If you don't install it yourself then there goes all the fun.

I will post some pics later........

Okay thanks, I will check HF for hoist options.

Can you tell me how long is the complete crated-up HD-9? I've got a 4500lb 8'x5' trailer, but I suspect it won't be long enough. Of course, the way they typically ship four-post's, perhaps it can hang off the back a bit it strapped well?

The bundle is the same length as the runway plus 3-4 inches for the bracket that makes a bundle. I would pass on the 8x5.

The engine hoist is on a coupon for $179.99 which is a good deal.

I replaced some of the China bolts for grade 10. Lubed any moving part, especially the wheels and swivel action of the casters. Also added over a quart of jack fluid.

Small note. The end brackets of the shipping package must be loose loose loose. The theory has it that if you remove the bolts holding the top ramp from the bracket you could lift the ramp straight up. NOT

The cable pulley is tucked into the end bracket so you can't lift straight up.

It is 16 feet long. It will fit in a 20’ U-Haul truck.

Okay, thanks again - and yeah... not sure what I was thinking...runways would be hanging way too far off the back of that trailer.
