BendPak Lift Question

For those who have a BendPak lift, I'm wondering what I'm missing here.

I bought an HD-9 lift and, after unpacking the parts, I found a couple of items that I cant find where they go or where they are described in the assembly manual. I've read the manual at least a dozen times and still can't find these parts.

Anyone know what they are and where they go?

The first photo is 1 of 4 bushings or sleeves approx 1" in diameter with an 1.75" bolt two washers and a locking nut. The second photo is 1 of 4 plastic pieces with tabs that allow it to pivot.

I just found a photo of the hinged plastic pieces and they go on top of the crossmember diagonal area that houses the safety locks. Now for the bushing?

After some patience, and quite a bit of searching the internet, I found two places that described these "spacers" and bolts. Of course both sites identify that it took some technical help from BendPak to determine since it's not mentioned in the instructions.

The aforementioned items are spacers for behind the bottom of the ladders and the outside of the posts (kind of an important piece I'm guessing). I've included an image that came from BendPak technical support in the hope this helps others in my position.

Guess they have revised things. My safety lock guards are metal, and the ladder bars aren’t held at the bottom by anything, they just swing freely.

I've got to say these are the craziest set of instructions I've ever seen for a piece of equipment that can have such a safety risk involved. Not to mention the terrible marking of the ports to use on the motor and the lack of markings for the various fittings. Some of which are self-explanatory while others are not necessarily.

I agree with the comment about the motor ports.

Agree totally.

The installation manual was written by somebody who has installed 100+ units so the common stuff is skipped over.

I learned more from this guy than anywhere else.

Advantage does a really good job of their installation videos.

Are you LISTENING Bendpak?

I think you should tie in the lower end of the ladders. They do flop around some and as the lift gets lower to the bottom there "could" be a miss of the locking dog.

The end tie does not actually support the lift. That is done by the top mount.

I was kinda expecting a page or two that illustrates the parts and what they are used for. Yep, those plastic yellow plates were installed weeks after my self-install since I was not sure about them.

I found out about the ladder bushings from this guy's install.

I've got everything sorted out and the lift is working perfectly.

Waterboyz,,,Chappy's videos on this lift definitely come into play and the location I saw the spacers for the ladders was on this website along with some other tips.

BendPak tech support is wonderful,,,once you get to talk to them. The funny part was the conversation I had with the person on the phone taking my request to speak with a tech. "Sir, someone will get back with you in 24-48 business hours". My reply was "3-6 days???" "No sir! I said 24-48 business hours." I gave up!

Apparently, there are several ports that will work for both Power and Return, just not clear in the instructions. As far as the routing of the hydraulic and air lines, I was told to route them most efficiently for my application which made much more sense than the convoluted manual.

On a positive note, I was told the manual will be getting revised soon to include the parts mentioned.

Glad you have success

No matter what pump they are using you would THINK that Bendpak would have an up to date manual ONLINE.......with pictures.

Makes me wonder if there are some dinosaurs in the upper levels of management?
