What would you do???
My delema I am looking for a two post lift. I have been leaning towards a Bendpak xpr-10a. It can be had for about $2800 shipped. But I came across a Dennmar 10acx for $2300 shipped. I know the lifts are similar. Both are certified. The only difference I can see is the Bendpak has three stage front arms. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I was looking at the same 2 lifts and ended up with the Bendpak because of the minimum lift pad height listed was about an inch lower on it.

Get the rotary in a spo 10ta with three stage arms front and rear of the spo12ta that's only speced with three stage arms in last 4 years
You will be glad you did, trust me! It's money well spent, especially in your setting

Aren't bendpak and dannmar made by the same company? Not sure but it seems like the max jack is the only popular dannmar product on this board, maybe cause its a nitche. That being said I have a dannmar 10cx that I am very happy with.

Pretty sure they are from the same company, aside from the arms and paint color, bendpak has 1/2" equalizer cables and the Danmark 3/8". Bigger is better right? I went with the bendpak.

Bigger is obviously stronger but 3/8" wire rope has a strength of around 15,000 lbs. so the added cost difference of using 1/2" doesn't make much sense to me being the lift is rated at 10,000 lbs. Also the cable is for equalizing the weight and evening out the travel, not supporting the entire weight of the vehicle. Maybe since they are using Chinese cables it takes a 1/2" one to make them feel safe.

Don't overlook a WORTH. Made in the U.S.A. in Texas. I bought mine used off of Diesel Dan and he bought another WORTH only larger. I like mine real well.

It's about how you build it and engineer it to be strong, not how you throw extra pointless iron at it

Machinery gets so heavy that it breaks it own back sometimes.....

I hear you, heavy for the sake of heavy isn't a virtue, and I'm sure I'd be perfectly happy with any American made, ALI certified lift.

For me, the BendPak XPR-10A is what I'll buy because of the one piece columns, wider carriage bearing spacing, and delivered price of $2860.

Have a buddy of mine who wrenches professionally, He just got two wheeltronic? 10k lifts from the snap-on guy about 2 years ago, I am not impressed. The columns look like they are about a third of the size of the ones on my dannmar. The are folded weird for strength, and they inspire NO confidence when they have a half ton pickup on them. I'll take my little bit of extra iron instead of an origami lift. He got rid of an old 7k challenger lift that I think was built better.

I was thinking the same thing when I read that comparison... It all snowballs- thicker cables and thicker pulleys look impressive in a blind comparison, but look at the arms and carriages and you realize that some of that is needed because the Bendpak has 180+ pounds more weight to move up and down!

I am in the very same boat as you (although I am looking at symmetric lifts).

My criteria:

Certified lift
10k capacity
Budget ~2500.

I was looking at both these lifts and decided to go with the Atlas Elite 10X

http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/Atlas-Elite-10X_2

I choose this lift for its shorter front arm reach.

Just another lift to think about if you have not seen it.

I have looked at Greg smith pv10 but I like that the Dannmar and Bendpak are wider drive through. Also I am leaning towards the Bendpak because I think the three stage arms would be nice and I am not a huge fan of the pad mount on the Dannmar arms.

I know how you feel about rotary and I know they are good lifts. But if I am go to spend $3900 on a lift I would buy a Nussbaum form a local distributor.

Alright taking another look t the Pv10p. It is just as wide as the Bendpak. I am going to see if they have one in there new Iowa location so I could pick up instead of shipping.

I have looked at the extra wide one but do not want a symmetrical lift. I want to be able to load a car a-symmetrically

I can understand that. I like what I've been told about asymmetrical lifts also. I have to have the width or I don't install the lift. Just thought for the price that lift might have interested you.

If you're working on cars most of the time, absolutely try to chase down an asymmetric.

Symmetric lifts only really shine on longer heavier vehicles. If you don't have a 3/4 ton extended cab truck to pick up, an asymmetric is likely going to be the preferred tool.

I was in the same boat and went Bendpak....alot of places seem to use their lifts. Easy to install too with a few special tools!

Got some not great news. Got a call from the buddy who ordered it for me. Apparently I may have to wait up to 90 days for s red one. They have red in low pro arms or I can get blue. I contemplated the low pro arms but I really did not like the arm design. Plus the screw adapters don't work with those arms. I thought about blue but really wanted red so it would match my tool box. So I told him I am prepared to wait. I have been waiting for 10 years to have my own lift so what's another 90 days.

I have an xpr-10a I bought a couple years ago and absolutely love it! If you are picking it up at a LTL carriers distribution center go ahead and take the plastic off and inspect it. I waited until I got home with it and unloaded in the shop to find the top of a post bent. Getting a replacement post was no problem except having to take it back.

Things work out
When I ordered my second spo12 ta last year I was told 2 weeks, but holidays and backordered hit and in three days after order I was told two months. The very next day they called asking if I wanted it delivered the next day as they had a exact order of mine that was cancelled sitting in a Chicago freight yard ready to go! Told them I take it upon inspection of no damage. Worked out great, 4 days after placing initial order I was winching it off a flatbed

It's getting delivered to my work so I can inspect it before it comes off the truck.

The XPR-10A set up in wide configuration is what I have. It has been perfect with zero regrets. I studied and studied, just as you, before I finally ordered it. I did the right thing for me and I think you will enjoy yours too.
I filled mine with Dexron ATF...that was another thread here on this site. This too has worked perfect for me.
I also mounted my pad extension holders to the main upright bolts ( later ) so they are in reach when you get down to set the arms under the vehicle, maybe that is what everyone does, I don't know. Enjoy your new lift.
