Bendpak vs. Atlas and ANSI Certifications.........

In looking at 2 post lift (10K), I was going to go with Bendpak XPR-10. I ran into some shop layout issues and while dealing with that I looked at the Greg Smith site and their Atlas lifts. I like the fact that the Atlas PV-10P has both symmetrical and asymmetrical capabilities.

I am however a little concerned about the certification. They go through a whole video of lift breakage, etc. but I notice that their ANSI ALI/101S label is different than other companies ANSI ALI ALCTV & ETL labels.

What are the differences and why is one better (if at all) than the other?

In searching this site, there is very little mention of Atlas and/or Greg Smith and while that could be a good thing (no complaints), I still am not sure.

There will be at least 7K lbs of vehicle going on this list, so I need to be sure its the right lift for me.

I am in the process of putting my XPR-10-ACX up and I understand the arms can be configured asymmetric or symmetric It was one of my buying points.
Plus lower pad height + Certification + documented customer support.
I was missing the anchor bolts in my box and Jeff had them there over night !

I don't know where you live but if you live near a Greg smith outlet you may want to stop in and check out their lifts first hand. I did and there was no way I was going to max out one of their lifts then stand under it.

I would get the bent pack. It is at least ALI certified. If you don't mind getting a used lift you may be able to pick up a rotary at auction for about a grand. With all the dealerships going under a couple years ago there were a lot on the market.

My used Mohawk came out of a Saturn dealership. An ALI certified lift like the bent pack will give you piece of mind when you have 8,000lb of truck above you.

What do you mean by "Atlas is ALI"?

I went onto ALI website and looked at the list of certified lifts and Atlas was not on the list, nor did I see Greg Smith claim that their lift were ALI certified. I did see that Atlas is now putting ALI lift safety stickers on their lifts "In a concerted effort to improve customer awareness as to the correct operation of our two post and four post above ground lifts"
