BendPak XPR-10, issue with safety latch

Just get my XPR-10 lift assembled and working.

Everything is working correctly with exception of the the 'off-side' safety latch. I cannot get the safety latch to move enough to allow the carriage to go down.

In its relaxed position it appears that the safety latch goes to far into the lift post, in fact it goes in so far that the safety latch actually touches the lift cylinder. The power-side has at least 1/2" clearance between the safety latch and the lift cylinder.

If I adjust the off-side safety latch to reduce how far it goes into the column (by adjusting the cable), there is still not enough throw to allow the safety latch to disengage/clear the lift column.

The safety latches both work smoothly and easily move by hand. The cable is routed correctly and it not binding on anything. The pulleys are not binding.

I think the off-side safety latch might have been mis-made as the horizontal bar welded on the safety latch does not touch the column as it does on the power-side (or the pivot hole was drilled in the wrong location).

Can someone with a XPR-10 lift take a look at the pics below and tell me if your safety latches looks like mine when installed?

I will call Bend-Pak on Monday.

Thanks!

-steve

Here's pics of my xpr-10a sitting on the lock.

It does contact the carriage when it's released. That's so that it engages the lock squares if it fails or when setting it on the locks. Took pics to show the wear from mine "riding" on the carriage

Sorry I didn't notice you took a pic of yours all the way down and it's actually touching the cylinder, not the carriage. I have a buddy coming over to use the lift tomorrow and will check it when down and take a pic. How tight have you pulled the release cable? It takes a good bit of tension/preload to provide enough movement to release. Try setting it with the handle pressed all the way in (locks fully released) and pull the cable until the off side lock is all the way out, then set it. It's been a few years but recall having to put a lot of tension on it.

I have been setting the cable with the power side and off-side safety latch in their at-rest positions (would be fully engaged) with the carriage at the bottom of the lift, and then pulling the cable as taught as possible.

Hummmm......maybe I should be adjusting the safety latches with the carriage raised so the safeties are engaged with the carriage?

Of course the Bend-Pak instructions are not much help.
