Hello everyone --
I just completed my install of my Bendpak XPR-10A, and after all the usual issues during install – microswitch connections, trying to locate tab inside tower for equalizer cable, dealing with lousy directions, etc. I get it working – then lift my first car ! Yeah ! it works ! I’m done !
But wait -- I am having some issues with the hydraulic fluid gushing out of the reservoir with white foam after I run the lift up to the top and then back to the bottom. I am sure the level was correct … So I call up Bendpak and they say that is has a leak, etc., so I remove the reservoir tank and double check the suction tube that runs to the pump, no obvious loose connections or cracks.
So I call Bendpak back again, and come to find out that the MAG1 hydraulic fluid (ISO 32 10W) from Northern Tool is a detergent fluid, and was not recommended by Bendpak to use. So I spend hours to drain out all the MAG1 hydraulic fluid & clean the lines, and luckily get a refund from Northern Tool since it does not say anywhere on the product that the oil contains detergent.
Next -- I replace with some more expensive Castrol Dex/Merc ATF from Advance Auto, which is acceptable since it is equivalent to Dexron III. And then run the lift up and down about 10 times, but still getting red foam that comes right to the top of the fill cap… even though the level when the lift is down is just at “Min” on the tank. This is improved, but still foaming ? Plus, I try to bleed the lift cylinders, and it appears that the oil foam gets into the cylinders – since they seem to have air in them after each up and down of the lift…..
So I call back Bendpak and they tell me that I should wait a week and the foaming will go away ? I don’t see how.
Any ideas on this ? do I need an oil additive ? or is this normal for these lifts ?
Bendpak is not really giving me a straight answer....
Thanks,
Jack
