BendPak XPR-10A

Going to buy and install a BendPak XPR-10A two post lift in my new garage. I'm trying to figure out how to run the wiring for it. My electrician is going to start running the wiring and placing receptacles tomorrow. Needs to know where to place the 220v receptacle to supply the lift. Seems like I've seen somewhere that the wiring needs to come from above the right side post. (if your looking at the lift from the rear) I was supposed to find this out days ago and totally forgot. Help from anyone who has a two post BendPak would be greatly appreciated. Going to give BendPak a call first thing in the morning.

Here is the link to the owners manual for the XPR-10A. According to the owners manual, the power unit is on the right side when looking at it on the approach side. See pages 9 and 13. Good luck!

If the power is going to come from the ceiling I suggest hard wiring the lift and to add a disconnect on the power column. If the circuit breaker feeding the power to the lift is 50' or less away and is in line of sight a disconnect is not needed.

The motor can go on either side. I opted to have the motor on the same side as my electric panel. I have the XPR-10 which is a symmetrical. The lift doesn't know which way the car faces.

I piped (EMT) in quad outlets right on the columns but you have to be careful where you place 'em. You don't want the bolts/screws interfering with the carriages.

I have the same exact lift. Ran a line from my panel to a junction box close to the right post and them came down the side of the post with romex and into the power unit. No receptacle needed. I can take a pic and post if needed.

I simply had a line run in the garage attic, and dropped a pigtail (SO cable) from the ceiling with a twist lock receptical. Put a matching pig tail on the pump motor. It is very minimalist, yet provides power disconnect should the need arise. No extra junction boxes or cutoff switches required. My 4 post lift is wired in the same fashion.

My last hoist I ran SJOOW from the panel to the hoist. I like that junction box setup and will probably do something like that on my new hoist but will run SJOOW from the box rather than just romex.

I wired a 220v/30a receptacle next to mine with a twist-lock plug. I have a 4 ft. pigtail coming from the motor. This acts as a disconnect and allows me to use the circuit for something else in the future (welder, powder coat oven, etc.).

You can see the rigid 1/2 conduit I ran to the control box. It goes up to about 10' then straight across to the wall where it hits a J-box. From there 10-2 wire back to the main panel

The motor unit is on the passenger side of the lift. The wiring schematic is oddly laid out. I didnt like running multiple lines up and down the column. I put a junction box on the horizontal top bar, This is where I interrupt 1 hot leg with the overhead limit switch. From there I ran a single piece of conduit to the motor switch box. Keep in mind all wire inside the motor junction switch box needs to be 105degree c rated. Thats kinda odd to find around town so keep that in mind.

I piped down the column and installed a 3 gang box: 30A/2 pole switch for lift and 120v recepticles. The rubber cord (SO) has strain reliefs. The other column has a quad.
