Hello,
I am getting ready to purchase a lift for my garage. I need a Two Post Floor floor plate or base plate model lift with columns 113" or less. I have been looking at the Atlas BP800, the Atlas BP9000, the Derick Weaver W-9F and the Bendpak XPR-9S. Since I will be standing under the thing but more importantly my son will be standing under the thing with a car over his head, I don't want to skimp out and get something that is well built and capable of being operated safely. I realize that the Atlas and Derick Weaver are Chinese made lifts without ALI or any other kind of certifications. That would make me nervous if it was not for all the people on here that have them, have not been killed, and think they are well built and work fine. Based on what I read, I was thinking that the Bendpak and the Rotary were company's with a little better quality reputation, certified lifts, but a price tag to go with it.

So here is my question. It does not appear that the Bendpak XPR-9S is certified by ALI or any other lift / safety association. It does have a CE stamp, but that is different. Other lifts from Bendpak are ALI rated but not this one. SO, why should I spend the extra $$ for the Bendpak when it really is not certified either like the Atlas or the Derrick Weaver.

Thanks for your help.

Just think of it this way. Ali certification is insurance that the lift will not fail. That being said are you feeling lucky?
Have you looked at the challanger lifts or Dannmer lifts? If not do look into them. I just went through the same gut wrenching decision you are trying to make. If there was a failure and your son was under it would it still be worth the savings?

Don't get me wrong The safety is an issue a thousand people can own these china made lifts and not have a problem but it will always be in your head.

If anything else they make high jack stands that will go under the lift for just this reason. If you do go with this lift use these for sure.

I just ordered my lift. Its a challanger lift but usa made and Ali approved.Good luck in your lift selection. Be carefull!

The bp9000 and Derek weaver w9f are the same lifts just different color. There both made by peak Corp, which also makes the bp8000. Atlas and Derek weaver just rebrand the peak lifts. I have the bp8000 and love it. I have no problem working under it. Google peak lifts and they have pics of there factory and copies of the CE certification.

I guess I did not ask my question appropriately. Seems like there are a bunch of post about the superiority of Bendpak lifts but they are not all ALI certified either. So, if the PEAK lifts (Derek Weaver, Atlas, etc.) have the CE certification like the Bendpak, why is the Bendpak more highly regarded? Where are the Bendpak lifts made?

If u want a certified lift, the atlas apex 9bp is certified. It's the same lift as the revolution and forward lift just cheaper. It is also a 2pt release unlike the bendpak and bp9000. I personally like the 1pt release it's a lot easier.

Are you sure about that? At one time they were US made but I believe they are now made in China. May be assembled in US.

Mind saying which one you went with and what type of cars/trucks you'll be working on?
