Bent CV Axle?

I just opened this axle that I got off Amazon, and noticed that the cover metal thing is bent. I tried to bend it back but no luck. Can I still use it like this? I'm now outside of the return window. I guess that's what I get. Any tool I can use to bend it back?

Use a Ball peen hammer to straighten it out, it's a dirt/dust shield to keep road dirt/slush etc away from the seal.

I get at least 1 a week like that.

Yup. Peck it back straight with a ball peen. Doesn’t have to be perfect either. As long as it’s not bent over and rubbing the axle seal.

I carefully squeezed the bent area of my last one in a vise, worked surprisingly well and was easier than hammer. Could barely tell it was ever bent. Probably depends on how its bent though. I usually do it with a ball peen. I have also used a large crescent wrench tightened down on the bent area to work it back straight, just kept tightening it as I worked it straight.

Big 12 inch adjustable wrench. Hook on there and bend it back to where it wants to go.

I'd lay the back of the bent plate on the bench (axle hanging down) and get a round piece of steel like a bearing race or something and tap it into the contour where it's bent with a BFH.
