I am in the process of installing a used Benwil TP7 two post lift. The cables from the motorized side to the cable lift side had been detached for transport by someone else. I would appreciate a photo of how the cables need to be attached to the post and safety cogs. Online searches for installation manuals have found nothing. Any help is appreciated. I need to get this correct for safety reasons.

Thank you pattenp for the pdf diagrams. The parts match my lift exactly. Unfortunately, I still am not sure on how I need to attach the cables to the safety arms on the follower post - see picture.

Sorry the pdf was of no help. I'm just not familiar with that lift to be of much help. Wish you the best of luck with figuring it out.

I have just installed the same lift as you have. I am in possession of the original manual. Email me offline at lafarka at centurytel dot net and I will get you pics and get you going.

Bodge Garage - Could you post a picture here too, in case someone else is curious? I'm also emailing you.

Good news! I called the 800# from the bottom of the 2001 parts list from pattenp. SVI, Inc is still in business, and they emailed me a full installation guide. I also was able to purchase new cables since the ends of these looked 'messed' with. Were very stretched out - one side 1/2" longer than the other. Better safe than sorry.

Here are the pics.
Hello I have just finished installing a Benwil TP-7 lift that I got from a GM dealer that went out of business. I have two questions, first I noticed on the side that lifts with the cable you have two nuts on the threaded sleeve that connects to the cable is this standard because mine only has the narrow nut attached. And second I am assuming that this side only acts as a backup safety feature since the latches never engage unless one of the cables break.

Yes, 2 nuts is the correct method. I have the original installation manual and that is the methos pictured. The cable side is the follower and the lock does not engage during normal operation.

My lift suffered a cable failure 2 years ago while in use as an alignment rack with a vehicle loaded. The follower latch engaged after a 2" drop.

I have a Maxon TP 7 lift. It looks the same as a Benwil TP 7. Can you send me a picture of how the cables attach to the post?

I’m in need of help please. Got a Benwil tp7 lift installed but I’m having issues with the follower post locking in. Could use some wisdom.

An earlier post mentioned the follower side does not lock in on normal operation. Is that correct?

Thank you for the above information. We are installing a used Benwil TP-7 lift and I called SVI and they promptly emailed me the installation manual and also the parts lists too.

I know this is an old post but I am looking for a copy of the owners manual? Working with an old TP-7 and want to make sure its set up correct before I get under it. It doesnt lock as it lifts, I do see here the follower side is not supposed to lock unless a cable fails? I think the owner has been manually pushing in these 2 locks on the follower side when he uses it.
Thanks for the help, Chris
