I got a smokin deal on a 50' Goodyear on eBay. It's really nice. Make sure you get it with 1/2" threads and use 1/2" fittings other wise you're restricting the flow and its full potential is lost.

The rubber Goodyear are my go to hoses. Still have a USA COO on the ones I got this year, if that matters to you.

I wouldn't buy a Goodyear with anything but USA markings. From what I have seen and read online, the Tekton USA hoses look pretty similar.

I bought the Astroflex Hybrid hose to try:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B01761XW7S/?tag=atomicindus08-20

and its nice only when there's no pressure in it.

My Craftsman 3/8" air hose which is rubber and made in U.S.A. works far better with and without air pressure.

Coils smooth and lays flat on the floor.

Just wondering what's good for 1/2" hoses.

I had the blue version of this in my cart on amazon and now seeing your post, I'm questioning buying it. What exactly are the issues you are having? I have a 50' Cox reel that needs a hose that I was planning on using this on.

When I bought my 3/8" Goodyear hose I found it to be squirrely. I stretched it all out and then it was better. On my high volume air tools I find a 30 psi drop across a 25' 3/8" hose (1/4" NPT V style fittings) and about 20-25 with the 50' 1/2" hose (3/8" NPT V style fittings) . Will the 1/2" NPT fittings really make it any better? V style isn't available past 3/8" NPT and the ratchets & impacts have 1/4" NPT inlets anyway.

It acts kind of like the Goodyear Pilovic hose. Won't coil nicely & doesn't lay flat on the garage floor. Without pressure the hose is very flexible and doesn't do this. With 100-115 psi in the hose its kind of annoying. It is lightweight and depending on your work space it may not be be an issue. I expect hoses to lay flat on the floor and not have a mind of their own. I expect them to act like my Craftsman & Goodyear rubber hoses.

While I don't have a 1/2" hose, I bought the Goodyear 3/8" hose and I love it. For the price I'd go with it again.

Right now I have a 3/8" hose with 3/8" body automotive couplers and plugs. It makes a huge difference over the 1/4" fittings. I'm in the process of setting up my 1/2" line. I pulled the 1-1/4" plug out of my compressor and reduced it down to 1/2" but the cheap reg/filter I bought from HF stripped out on both sides. So I'm waiting to find a deal on a new one. Cheap pos I knew better but decided to try it. Anyways, after I find a 1/2" filter/regulator I will run a short 1/2" hose to a reel with 50' of 1/2". I'll then plug in the forementioned 3/8" hose for small stuff and use the 1/2" for my impacts and hi volume air tools. I also bought an 18" tractor trailer brake hose that is 1/2" diameter, but 3/8" on one end and 1/2" on other. It is threaded directly into my 3/4" Aircat for max potential. Some will argue this is pointless and a waste, but idc. I know it will work.

The best air line I've ever used is not marketed as air line but rather low pressure hydraulic hose. Parker's Pushlok Plus. It's good to 350psi working pressure. all of it's connections are low profile, no clamp or crimp fitting required. You simply push to connect, hence the name. I'm a road tech fixing heavy equipment for a large construction company. I've had the same piece of 1/2" Pushlok on my hose reel for 7 years. It gets pinched and scraped and dragged through everything you can imagine on construction sites and it looks brand new. All of our shop airlines are pushlok as well. It lays flat on the ground in any weather. I work outside year round in Canada. Even in the winter, -30 C this stuff is very flexible. There is no air line I've ever seen that comes remotely close to this stuff. It's small for it's rated diameter as well, meaning you can get more on your hose reel than that red, water-hose-looking garbage. My favourite part is, should it ever get a hole in it, you simply cut it with a utility knife, grab a union and push it back together. You're up and running at full rated capacity in a couple of mins. They also make all the popular airline ****** and chucks that plug directly into this hose. Nice smooth small connections. This stuff is expensive, but if your tired of air lines short comings, Parker's Pushlok is the way to fly.

Unless you're working on commercial vehicles (ie, using 3/4" and 1" drive impact guns) or blowing out sprinkler systems.....and assuming you're running a big compressor, I'm not sure you'd ever use the volume capcacity (CFM) of a 1/2" id hose. Large hoses become heavy tethered to the end of air tools over time and they're much more difficult to store when not in use. SD

Just for the record I have had really good success with mine, mated to a Kobalt branded hose reel. It is a little trickier to get it back into the spool because of how light it is, but it is my favorite hose to date. I don't know what problem one could have with this hose...
