I am torn between the 220v compressor with a 60 gallon tank or a 110v-sih compressor with a 30 gallon tank

Yes, my 30 gallon tank compressor has served me and my needs very well over the years

Do I really NEED at 220v unit? No

The 220v units will cost more to run, cost more to wire up, and while it would be great to have a 60 gallon tank, it is really overkill for my needs and my shop

I still rely a lot on hand tools in my shop, rather than air tools

Plus, my currently compressor is on a cart with casters that I can freely moved around the shop easily.........this still can be done with a 60 gallon 220v tank, but would be top heavy and hard to move around

Ugh

To aid you we need to know what you plan on using the compressor for. For example are you going to run an air sander or air ratchet? An air sander will consume air faster and require more makeup capacity. So for. Us to truly help you we really need more info.

Just basic garage work

Airing up tires
Blowing out the shop
Air tools of all sorts

Not running a business out of my shop, just a weekend warrior

If that's the case you could get away with the 110v units that you discussed, but if you plan on doing anything like blowing out your sprinklers then the extra capacity would be nice. I personally had a 30 gal craftsman oil-less unit (110v) and it was loud as hell, but it was nice that it was portable. I now ave a large 80gal 220v system, personally I would never go back but I do both wood and metal work. The 110v would have ~30% duty cycle (3 min running in a 10min period) running impacts and nail guns. The unit would run over a 50% duty cycle when using HVLP guns. I never tried a sander, but I am sure it would run non stop. With the larger system I rarely go over a 20% duty cycle, which is where you want to be as excess heat kills compressors.

Hope that helps.

I've ran my current 30 gallon compressor non stop for a very long time......has held up great

Just the oil free pump is driving me nuts and I think I want something larger or more powerful, but I like having the compressor also on casters and mobile

I think I'd have a hard time rolling a 60-80 gallon tank around, plus not having the ability to plug into a various of outlet locations isn't gonna work

I have an ingersoll Rand vertical garage mate 20gal. I like it a lot.The pump is a V design and is much more quiet than the standard vertical piston designs. The pump is also rated to continuous use. Sears will have it from time to time and it smokes northern tools price. Got mine for $375 new. Our sears has one on the floor right now. I will take a pic of mine and post it.

Here are some pics:
