I am ready to buy a lift and would like to know what are the better lifts to look into? I have done some research on the HD-9XW-B bend pak and it seems to be one of my choices. What else is out there in similiar quality. Where is the best place to buy from? Any info will help.
Thanks, Chris

there is nothing wrong with Bend Pak. alot of people here will cry that its made in china and a piece of junk. But then one of them is also a lift saleman crying. The rotary is a very good lift, but you going pay double. The mowack (sp) is one that I like that very good. But these are commerical lifts. My BP been outside for couple years, it look like it has china parts. But I like it alot, no problem.

Looks like Mohawk makes 10,000, 12,000, & 14,000 four post lifts, has anyone ever priced one?

I have two. I love them. No problems. You will not have any issues with Greg Smith Equipment....... They always take care of customers though I doubt you will have any issues that they need to address. The customer service is great. You can talk to real people, not seventeen menus of push 7, push 2, push 3, I'm sorry you have pressed an invalid key, goodbye..........

Check out the Greg Smith website! The Pro Park models just got certified! Very impressive for a low-buck, imported lift.

Interesting write up on the lift especially because they mention Dover Manufacturing who owns Rotary

tt69camaro and gsport. I'm a big BendPak fan. I bought their HD-9-B (Extra Wide Regular height) in the 220 motor config and I love it. I also have the RJ-45 rolling air jack which perfectly compliments the lift. It went together very smoothly. I didn't really follow their directions as I just looked at the parts diagram page. Anyway, it took four of us about four hours to unload and assemble it on a Sunday afternoon.

Motor choices
The 220 motor makes it so that you can go from fully down to fully up in less than a minute. The 110 motor will probably take 1.5-2 times as much time but unless you are a shop, the time difference doesn't mean much. I already had 220 in the garage so that's what I went with. By the way, the descend speed is controlled by a flow valve so the speed for descending the ramps is the same whether there's a car on the lift or not.

Air locks
This is really no big deal. Just get a small air compressor if you don't already have one. Heck, the first time I used mine it was hooked up to a pancake compressor. I think you only need something like 35-40 PSI to operate the locks. Seriously, you'll really like being able to hit ONE button and then hear all of the locks unlock. This is a lot better than having to walk to each column to manually move a lever or perhaps only move to one or two columns to do the same thing. Keep in mind that on lifts that have one or two levers that need to be engaged/disengaged there's a really long rod that has the potential to bend over time (then what do you do?). Plus, having to go buy an air compressor is not a bad thing. Can you say air tools? Let the collection begin.

Where to buy your BendPak?
I shopped around and found the best deal for my lift and RJ45 from Brian at www.asedeals.com. He actually gave me better pricing buying both items at the same time so do think of how you'll get your car off the ramps to do brake jobs and such. You can also get a jacking tray and any other accessories you need. Anyway, Brian really knows all of the Bendpak models really well as he gets 2-3 orders per day. He was also very responsive to emails and calls just like other folks on this forum had experienced. He even sent me a .pdf of the BendPak lift manual when I placed my order.

Let me know if you have any questions. There's a lot of folks here that are now very familiar with the BendPak HD-9 and HD-12 lifts.

Best of luck!

Here's a pic.

decisions, decisions.... now i find out that costco.com is selling a four post lift too... it's a dannmar lift, but only 7,000 lbs, they have two models and the larger is almost the same dementions as the BP and Direct lift.. the bigger of the two is $1899.99 including delivery.. can't hardly beat that price..
and dealing with costco for over 20 years is a big plus.. if i don't like it i can return it to any costco warehouse... even though it's only a 7000 lb lift, that will really be the maximum i'd ever put on it anyway.. when i decide i'll let everyone know what i get, with pictures of course... jim
