I'm going to suggest an odd one...Channel lock code blue. I have been using a set at work for over a year... awesome for the $15. Lifetime warranty, hardened tips, laser etched tips, part soft grip and triangular ergonomic handle. I bought a set of snapon hard handle rwb drivers in anticipation of these wearing out as I use #2p alot...snappy set is at home still waiting.

Anyone have the Klein cushion grip 8 piece set?
If so, what do you think of it?

I have been using these for 20 years. I like them a lot. I tried using Wera for work years ago. The metric slotted screwdrivers are not sized right for electrical fittings and hardware. So... I went back to Klein for slotted screwdrivers, and use Wera for Phillips. It works for me. I want to try the new Klein Phillips with the revised tips, though.

As far as the HF pro screwdrivers go... I have them, and they are nice for the price... The angles of the tips of the Phillips are too steep. They do not fit Phillips screws as well as they could. I really think the factory should measure the Klein and Wera tips and copy the angles.

Also... You will know if the Phillips in the Klein sets are the revised ones by the tip color. The revised ones are reddish brown.

I have 4 full sets of screwdrivers and have used them on electrical,machinery,heavy equipment auto and big truck applications.i have snap on hard handle,pratt-reed,craftsman professional and matco/witte.afteryears of use the matco witte have the best grip the best torque feature with hole in the handle that you can use another driver for strength.the tips show very little signs of wear and grip most any fastener tight.all my screwdrivers are good but i use the matco the most because they perform the best.williams hard handle is the exact same as my snap on with the hex torque feature at base of the handle but it ddoesn't work as well.the snap on or williams likely to rust.mine are.thats just my opinion and ive been an industrial technician a heavy equipment mechanic and auto repair.

Adding to my post on witte screwdrivers.i dont remember what i paid for my set but i just googled witte screwdrivers and several sites have the new max pro line for a heck of a lot less than i paid.

While on the subject of screwdrivers are certain brands difficult to warranty if need be?

I've got craftsman, and Snap On, and a few Masterforce screwdrivers. I've really been interested in Wera and Williams screwdrivers. Obviously don't have a dealer for either anywhere in the area. Not that I'm anticipating problems. But has anyone warrantied anything for Williams or Wera? Especially with Wera being overseas, does everything run pretty smooth?

I myself am interested in the hard handled Williams and possibly the heavy demolition type set from Wera.

Any screwdriver manufacturer that meets current DIN standards will also meet JIS. So it's not necessary these days to seek out JIS specific drivers, but Vessel makes a good screwdriver...

I really sound like a Snap-On fanboy, but I think they make the very best for Industrial usage. Electrical I have no idea apart from bits and bobs about the house.

As much as I hate to admit it I have quite a few of the free HF black handle sets and usually they are all I can find and they aren't half bad even if I had purchased them at HF $5.99 or whatever they sell for. For a set to keep in the truck just in case, zero complaints whatsoever. For my "good" ones I have more Craftsman than I can count and they are OK but not my favorite. The Williams black handle are my next purchase, love the handle and if quality is as good as SO counterpart great bang for the $$$$

I have the Wiha's and like them a lot. I'm probably one of the few that cant stand S-O hard handles. The tips on the Wihas are 2nd to none IMO. They fit fasteners extremely well and mine have lasted for about 8 years and are still going strong...

I really like both and have about 5 mixed common hard handles and 3 ratcheting, but I don't have a full set of reg drivers and that's ^^^ exactly what I wanted to hear about the Wiha's.

Have you hammered on them and with what? I live in the rust belt and that's why I'm seriously looking at this type... I figure with the added grip, bolster, and cap these could work similar to a light duty hand impact? Correct...

I have their micros and insulated they are both top notch...so why not

Finky, I don't hammer on them, I have a hand impact wrench for that. Like this:

Sorry, can't tell you how they'll hold up with hammering. I have the Ko-Ken Attack Driver version, and I am convinced this is why my "regular" screwdrivers last seemingly forever...

I have the koken attack driver in (3/8) the snap on in (1/2) great tools... and your 100% correct with that.^^^ they've saved me a lot of beat drivers...

I think I was talking about the Wiha micro finish "extra heavy duty" ones with the striking cap... I'm guessing you have the non striking cap (heavy duty) version? I forgot they came that way...

I don't plan of beating them to hell, but I think a few taps with an 8oz hammer could work wonders on rust, fitting better, and breaking the bond on crappy old screws.

OK, I understand now. No, I don't have the "extra" heavy duty Wiha's. But, I do have Vessel Impacta screwdrivers in PH2 &PH3, so if I need something more slender than the hand impact, these fit the bill (splitting motorcycle cases for example). I have hammered the Vessels pretty good and they are awesome!

I personally use Mayhew Cats Paw 10 Piece Screwdriver Set They are all black and red now picture is deceiving. I have beat them very hard with a 3lb drilling hammer no major damage few scratches on the black tip that is all.

As a European I have little experience with the American brands except snap-on from my aviation days. That said I rank wiha with snapon.

Current order of favorites:

1) PB Swiss - expensive but hands down best screw drivers for mechanical work
2) wiha / wera. I tend to use the wera more for woodworking and around the house. Wiha for the car.
