I am installing can lights in a new basement and want to make sure I purchase the correct type that I need. I was also told some LED fixtures don't fit in drop ceilings all the time nice and flush. Any advice?

I like the Philips Slim Surface lights. You can google it. There are many manufacturers of this style to choose from. They mount to an electrical box. They're really thin and give the appearance of a downlighting can. They come in various sizes, colors and shapes.
Good luck

I got a crazy deal at Costco yesterday. Feit 75w retro kit 2pk after instant rebate was $2.99! Regular price was $16.99.

Probably less than 10 watts each, so 160 watts. A 15A breaker is theoretically good for 1800 watts, although you shouldn't use more than 80%, I think. In other words, you've got plenty of capacity.
