I am looking to get a larger tool box. I want to go to a 72" wide, and get the best value for my budget. First of all 72" are hard to find in my price range. First find on Craig list. Snapon 75 anniversy edition 72" 22" was asking $2500 but now down to $1900. Good deal but I dont like the 22" depth as my old S.O top chest is 22" and I like a lip on bottom box so I can set tools on when putting them back in box. Next box I found is a Matco 72" x 25" deep, about 5years old, asking $2500, might come down a little. This box has depreciated from about to $5000 and wont go much lower. (I have to pick it up, about $100 fuel and truck) Next box I found is the Extreme 72" with a 30" width. Which would give me the most storage space for the $. It is $2700 shipping free. I cant find much info on the Matco to compare it. From what I find Matco is 150lbs per drawer. Cant find gauge of metal. I am not worried whaat the value would be if I had to sell it as I am sure the Matco would be better. Question: will the Extreme be as well bult box as Matco?. I would much prefer the 30" depth over 25".http://www.elitetoolboxes.com/extre...fessionalrollercabinetwstainlesssteeltop.aspx I konw Extreme makkes the pro series which is heaiver and about $500 more but out of my budget.

My wife bought me the 55 x 30 extreme tool box for christmas to replace my old mac box. The quality and construction of the extreme box is amazing 18 guage drawers, and 16 gauge shell, the front of the drawers are double layered, and the pulls are thick extruded alluminum, the slides are very heavy duty, and the powder coat is very well done. The resale will probably not be as high as the big names but I would put this box up against any of them.

the best value for you money is the harbor freight box, not the one that everybody buy for $400 but that new one for $700, its a smooth red. but that not the question you are asking for the ultimate box at cheapest price, everybody wants that box. Its going to be a snap on, no question, but the deal it gonna have to be used. boxes are nor worth what they sell for, but since they last forever, they demand a high price, good luck in finding the deal

I have a Matco 4S and I love it. That 72" is the best buy IMHO. Not bashing the Extreme box, but the Matco is made in the USA. Not sure about the Extreme.

Those harbor boxes seem to be real popular on here for the money, I never owned one so I can't say ye or ne on them. I'm with Blaperle on this, the extreme boxes are awesome. If I had someone that wanted to trade I think, I'd trade my snapon box for a big extreme tools box. I like the 72" ones and I like the 30 deep ones.

However shannon at extreme tools (he's a member here global72 I think is his username), he mentioned that the top on the extreme boxes is stainless but easily dented. maybe someone else has better insight on this, Also the Montezuma boxes are popular on here as well but I hear the extreme boxes have a much smoother and shinier finish.
