Hi,
Looking to install a split AC/heat pump unit for my wifes garage.

Would like to install it myself and wondering what is the best kit to get these days.

Looking at Samsung but have an open mind if one is better?

Any help is appreciated!

That's because there are so many threads already existing with the same question. You didn't mention anything about your skill level or tools. You can't just diy an HVAC system on a whim like some projects.
Only answer with the given information is Mr Cool DIY units.

For the cost uncharge of the DIY units, an unskilled installer may be able to hire an HVAC tech to pressure test, evacuate, and commission a non-DIY unit. Make sure that you have identified someone who will do this for you in advance. You will likely screw up the flare fittings and have leaks.

A few years ago I self installed a 18k BTU Mr Cool unit in my 900sq ft insulated garage. My neighbor with HVAC experience came to pull the vacuum and complete the startup. I caught an eBay dealer scratch/dent sale plus a eBay $100 discount and paid about $620 for it.

It works amazingly well, especially for summertime cooling.

Hi,
Thanks, I have Guages and Vacumn Pump.

As I understand it, the Unit is precharged and once lines are run...

You pull a vacumn and check for any leaks then when good you open valves and release the refrigerent from the compressure fitings?

I do not have any Nitrogen or refrigerant.

Thanks again!

I installed a diy freidrich 24k system in my last house that didn't even require a vac. You just plugged the line set in. They don't make it anymore though

You don't check for leaks with vacuum. You check for leaks with pressure. Get the N2 bottle and regulator. N2 purge also removes the water vapor that is in the air that was in the lines.

If you get a true DIY kit you dont need to pull a vacuum as it comes with pre-charged lines with quick fittings.

I installed a 24000 BTU Mr Cool, it was easy. It isn't as quit and refined as the Mitsubishi's we have but for the garage/shop they're great. If you mount the outside unit to the wall make sure it's a place you don't spend any time on the inside. It makes an annoying noise inside the shop.

I wasn't done with the install yet but here's some pictures.
