Do what needs to be done now whether you want to or not.

Work on your highest priority issues first each day.

You become like the people you hang out with.

Pay yourself first each month.

Hard work is not enough to become wealthy. You must invest every month.

"Money can't buy you happiness, but it can buy you a yacht big enough to pull up right alongside it."

I've always said, "Money can't buy happiness, but it can sure make the down payment."

I like yours better:thumbup:

Here is a VERY Useful one from an older co-worker. As far as I know it was actually his own and is meant to be applied to dealing with businesses such as dealerships or cable companies etc.

"Never take NO from someone who does not have the authority to say YES"

I have used that one more times than I can count.

Do everything you've ever wanted to do before you have kids.

Take considered and calculated risk with the possible exception of unprotected ***....see above^^.

If you're willing to accept the gains from your actions, be prepared to accept the losses as well...me (I'll polish it up later)

I used to fight competitively and you'd get these people who would talk a bunch of **** to "sell fights". They had no problem taking the additional money, but then they cried like babies when people didn't like them, or root for them, because they were seen as assholes.

It's better to whole *** one thing than half *** two things.

You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.

It's more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.

"Never take NO from someone who does not have the authority to say YES"

It applies to just about everything in business. Anyone can say "no". Don't waste your time with them. Find the person who can say "yes".

A few from the late Tim Wilson;
4. She didn't accidently get good in bed

Yep. There are things you're better off not knowing.

I wrestle for a balance between these two:

People care about what you know, when they know what you care about.

lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on mine

Go figure.

I'm still learning the first one.

Wish I could make the second one stick.

One I've heard, and I struggle to follow, is this:
"Never apologize. Unless you really need to. And if an apology is necessary, make it concise, factual, and sincere, then move on."

From my Dad -- he had some leftover Air Force sayings he used regularly. I distinctly remember being about six years old and completely baffled by these two:
"Pull your head out of your *** -- you don't have a plexiglass stomach."
"When you assume, it makes an '***' out of 'U' and 'ME'."

One of my original motorcycling aphorisms:
"Never fart in waterproof pants."
I'm kinda proud of that one -- it works on literal and metaphorical levels...

Not mine, but I've found this motorcycling wisdom to be 100% true:
"It's a lot more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow."

From my dad: "First Rule: Don't do anything stupid". It covered anything that he didn't cover with the other rules.

Also from my dad, the old auto shop teacher: "A car can never run you over if you are standing to the side of it".

"The most important play of the game is the next one".

This ^ reminds me of what I told my boss (Who was also an old friend) while I was learning to repair restaurant equipment. He had sent me home with a big refrigeration manual & I had been learning about the laws of thermodynamics & so on. And riding with him during training.

Me - "I learned about the first law of refrigeration".
Boss- "Hmmm... I don't remember that one".
Me- "I know you don't. It is 'Never break wind in a walk-in'". :D

You cannot reason someone out of a position that they were not reasoned into (many variations of this quote)

I use this all of the time, and while I think I made it up, I'm sure it's been said before: don't expect to get a reasonable response from an unreasonable person
