I need a decent soldering torch. I keep running into situations where I need one, so I'm going to get one. But there seems to be a ton of chinese stuff out there for like $12. Something tells me that I probably don't want that. Or do I? Which soldering mini torch would you recommend? I know snap on and the others sell some for like $100. Seems to me like I should be able to get a good mini torch for a lot cheaper than that.

I have the power probe pencil type and it has served me well. Runs about $40-$50

I use the Snap On butane soldering iron made by Weller and have gotten a lot of use out of it over the years. Had it close to 20 years and no leaks.
My mini torch is the Power Probe one...pawn shop find a year or 2 back. No complaints with it either.

I have the Snap On YAKS1. Probably the same as yours. It is a rebranded Weller Portasol, and I find it excellent.

^^^ Thats my main small torch setup with a 6ft hose it'll reach just about anywhere.^^^

But for soldering,

Master appliance makes a great butane one I had one as a kid so did my father they both still work it's been 20 year now. UT 100. or any of the ultratorch models.

For a small reg torches look at blazer they are well built I have a big shot a small blow torch for home use its excellent, they offer all different sizes of course... I've had mine 5 years and use it constantly.
