I want to hang up some tools on a board. Tiny hooks, screws etc.

What is the best board for this job. MDF, Plywood?

1/4-inch thick tempered pegboard (hardboard). Be sure to used tempered pegboard which is dark brown. Standard pegboard is a lighter tan color. You need to use pegboard hooks with pegboard. If you want to use screws and nails to hang your tools, use 1/2-inch thick plywood.

I agree on the plywood. Hard board and some mdf is too hard requiring pre-drill holes for a screw. Plywood you can screw them in by hand.

Here's how I did it.
Painted the peg board Garage Grey and framed with 1" x 2" strips.
Hung it on the wall with a french cleat.
