So just wanted some quick opinions, I am a shade tree mechanic working on my own personal vehicles, and in the midst of a restoration project as well. Anyway so 7 or 8 years back bought my first set of Gear Wrench ratcheting wrenches. Absolutely freaking love the things, never should of been without, Got them during the holidays and they were on sale i think i paid less than a hundred bucks for the first set below.

Standard:Metric:

In doing some recent suspension work i found myself needing some larger STD wrenches, and wishing i had them in ratcheting wrenches which i didn't unfortunately. So i went out to review prices and for both of the missing equivalents to finish the set is over double what i paid originally for far few wrenches.

Am i better off just buying a complete new set at like 300 bucks a pop for both metric and std, or finish the set i already have. Have the different sets from ICON or Tekton gotten that much better to restart and get the whole set? LMK your thoughts

Prices have gone through the roof and all companies that make wrenches give away the X to 3/4 sets and then really ream you for the larger sizes. Seems to be an industry wide practice. The worst is the KABO double box reversible long wrenches where the set isn't out of control but one 21X22mm wrench is well over $100.

Check if you can get Toptul in your area, I think they are the original manufacturer of all the high end ratcheting wrenches from asia, but buying straight from them is usually a bit cheaper.

Buy individual but skip duplicate sizes. Get 19mm, 21mm, 22mm and 24mm which also work as 3/4, 13/16, 7/8 and 15/16.

Skip the 20mm. It's rarely needed. I have needed it and a 23mm on a rare occasion, usually on aftermarket suspension thats been painted/coated or chromed.

Tractor supply has a set of 4 wrenches 13/16" - 1" for a fairly reasonable price. Gear wrench brand- ratcheting . Do they have to be metric?

Cripe Distributing usually has good prices on Gearwrench Ratcheting wrenches. I just bought a 13/16" to 1" 4 piece set ($82 + $14 shipping), but they are sold out now. You can go to their website or check on ebay.
