Best (cheapest) place to obtain missing socket sizes

I am a proud Craftmite (Lower Danaherian) and I have about 28 sockets that are missing in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2 deep and standard in various sizes. When I say missing I mean 28 holes in my socket organizer. Many of these I never had but the organizer provided for.

So where is the best place to search and pick over and get just what I need...preferably from a single source?

I'll go stick a claw hammer in my eye whilst I await a response.

Ken

Ken,
I have a LOT of Craftsman sockets. What sizes do you need? And, what era do you need them to be from? Are your other Cman sockets really old (30's-50's); really new, or something in between?

Everything I have is used, so let me know whether you would need pristine, like-new appearance only, or if you are more concerned with functionality at a price.

Not a sales pitch here, but I do really have a LOT of used Cman sockets, and may be able to help you.

Well...I know I could go to Sears and get new....I was hoping someone would say....hey...know this guy....etc...etc.

*sigh*...it's not easy being a Craftmite looking for bottom feeder prices.

Hello Lump...I appreciate the response...

Most all my Craftsman tools are from the early 70's. Would be nice to keep with the same era but I'm not emotional about that for these. If you could PM me your email address I can send you a list if that's ok with you.

This is just one of those things I've been meaning to do for months and just took the time to do.

Again...I appreciate the response.

Ken

I visited a used tool shop a couple of weeks ago and they were about $0.50 to $1.00 each for the Craftsman and no name sockets, the Snap-On/Mac/etc were a few dollars each.

Also, try pawn shops. Some don't have bulk tools or decent prices, but many pawn shops have bins of sockets for .10 to .75 each.

You have to do some digging, but you should find what you need. Craftsman are the most common brand I see by far, but I'm always looking for things other than Craftsman.

Problem i have found with buying used is that rarely does 1 person have everything you need, and shipping kills it for buying only a few from each person. We need someone trustworthy to open a consignment business. We could each ship our extra 50 sockets to one person and then sell from one central place where we could really take advantage of the flat rate boxes and put a lot of these single pieces back into "sets." Good luck and if you want you can send me your list and i'll see what i have as well.

Round these parts there is a shop that isn't quite a pawn shop and not quite a flea market even though the sign has both descriptions. They sell crafty sockets for 50 cents a piece for 1/4 and short 3/8 and $1 each for 1/2 and deep 3/8. They are pretty much the reason I use craftsman sockets and wrenches. I tend to lose or misplace tools more than break them so cheap replacements are critical and big bins full of potential inexpensive backups less than 5 miles away is sure handy.

what price is that per socket you want to pay?

i have a tool store near me that sells ziplock bags that you fill for 10-20 bucks depending on sale or not.
i buy my replacements off of the SO truck, if theyre whatever i replace them for blue point for a buck or so each.
were you looking for lower than that?
