Hi all-just getting started prepping my new basement garage. I'd like to repaint the interior walls. There is white paint on most of it now,but it's a couple different shades of white, and there is a very small area where it's starting to peel off.

Is there a particular brand that you've had success with? I plan on wire brushing/scraping off the flaking paint, but the vast majority of the garage wall is in good shape, so i'll just clean and topcoat it.

We purchased some from Lowe's to paint the block outside our house. It turned out pretty well and has lasted about 5 yrs so far. It was $160 for 5 gallons so not the cheapest stuff. The brand was Valspar Duramax. It seems to be pretty tough, I've hit it with the weed eater string and did no visible damage. The stuff is supposed to be one coat, but our bare block took two.

Cool, thanks. Just got done cleaning out the garage a little bit ago. The paint looks to be original, and had only a few very small areas where it had come off. Shouldn't have any problems with moisture.

When we put on our addition, I cleaned the new block & existing block with TSP and then primed it with SW Loxon then Put some SW White Exterior over that... Been Years and Still SOLID and BRIGHT White.

It is expensive like $35-45 a gallon, but I got it on one of their 30-40% weekend deals they do once a month.

Highly recommend it, and Glad I Used it !!

are you talking about a sealer or paint I use Sherwin Williams on my house for paint. I Need to seal up my new shop and I'm looking at SW LOXON or DRYLOK both are tintable

I've used both SW Loxon and SW Water Blocking Primer and both work awesome. The Water Blocking Primer is what I used in our basement utility rooms and it has stuck amazingly well and actually makes the rooms feel warmer. Coverage isn't great, and it took a good 2 coats for me to feel like I got even coverage, but was probably some of the best money I spent for that project.
