I'f you need more power you should use something else like an air die grinder if your porting engines or something like that.Proxxon has pretty much everything Dremel has cheaper and same or even better quality in my experience.

A die grinder for porting???!!! No way.

Attachments for a Foredom? Check their site.
Pretty reasonable the last time I ordered. And I'm in Canada!

Why not?I do a lot of work on two strokes with an air die grinder as a professional engine tuner.

Because they're completely unforgiving. If you're building 2 strokes you need precision on the ports with regards to roof angles, making sure they're straight and for smoothness for the best flow possible.

I'd like to see some of this work done with a die grinder. I can't picture it being smooth unless you're in there with sand paper afterwards

And most professional two stroke builders are using a combination of a Foredom/Dremel type tool along with a dentist drill perhaps to ensure accuracy.

I have a B&D RTX 2A from the late 90s that is the most powerful of the dremel style that I have used. Some Dremel models go faster but none are as good in my hands as this one has been.

If I were in the market to get a Foredom theres no real equivalent. I used to work in a pawn shop and we had the mid level one I would use for polishing small instrument parts. I do not think that 'need a Dremel' == 'need a Foredom' although if you have the budget go for it I guess. Currently my HF 3" with flex shaft is an ok tool for my use when I don't have air.

If I needed to go out and get one today I would get a 4000 or equivalent (4200?) and none other. No cman, no other Dremel, etc. If you can buy a Proxxon locally maybe you go that route I don't know anyone who sells it local.

NO PROFESSIONAL PORTER USES ELECTRICAL TOOLS PERIOD

especially on motorcycles ask;

FMF, I worked with Donny for 25 years, you have more National and World Championships than FMF?

Toomey Racing, I was with Stuart at Daytona '79 and we won, only privateers to ever win......look up who he wrenched for :thumbup:
only guy that wrenched on more World Champions bikes is Knobby Clark

Branch Flowmetrics Jerry will agree.......you have a fast Harley, Jerry did your heads

best 2 stroke porter?

hands down, Bob Haag.......NOBODY IS FASTER

Donny, Stuart and I are accurate but slow compared to Bob......

the one thing we all have in common and Jerry too......

DOTCO die air grinders......they aren't cheap.......but they are bullet proof

the problem with electric tools is they have too much spindle inertia and are

too heavy

any die grinder/porting tool that comes with stones is a POS.......Carbide is

the ONLY way to go:thumbup::thumbup:
