best floor jack or floor jack solution?

for lifting straight up that is. my jack is a now somewhat old duralast that i'm getting tired of dragging out, it was a gift a while ago but its become a pain to use. i want to use it outside on the driveway but the rough driveway plus the weight of lifting heavy things like my sequoia or tundra are almost too much for it. it's a 3 ton jack, but it doesn't roll worth a damn with the vehicle on it. which means if i want to get the vehicle up on all 4 it becomes a pain and dangerous as it's more likely to pull the whole thing towards the jack causing the two previously placed jacks to tilt onto two lefts, definitely not safe.


what i am hoping someone knows about is a jack that either lifts damn near straight up while still being somewhat low profile (so it can be used on my cars as well). or a jack that easily rolls forward as it lifts so you don't run into those horrendous issues of tilting jack stands from a stationary jack lifting a vehicle.

Bottle jack. Kinematically that is alot to ask of a standard floor jack. Get a full size floor jack and I think your problems will be solved. If money wasn't an object I'd go straight to Milwaukee or AC.

bottle back would be a good idea, what do you mean by full size floor jack? the jack i'm using right now is a full size floor jack, its not one of those compact ones if thats what you meant.

forgot to mention that i don't believe a bottle jack is going to help unless it's a specific height to fit directly underneath the frame in certain areas, which means it wont fit all the vehicles. it would have to be a side to side lift and lift high enough to go past the suspension travel as well. tough to size something like that correctly short of jacking it up and measuring things out. thats why i was hoping to find some links to good floor jacks with a lot of stroke and either good rolling, or a design that helps keep things from being dragged backward or forward.

the truck and sequoia both came with bottle jacks that fit under an axle. but won't lift from frame points due to height and suspension travel

Get hydraulic bottle jack and scraps of 2x6 and go after it. Screw out top of good hydraulic bottle jack gives you more range. Once jacked up, rest weight of vehicle on jack stands. Keep your floor jack out there as backup. Don't forget to set parking brake and block other wheels from rolling.
