Many if not most are rebranded KWB Swiss-made folding rules. Pick the one with your favorite color or logo. Klein, Wiha, Ridgid, Milwaukee, etc.

I saw that the Milwaukee folding rule on the shelf at HD was made in Switzerland, caught me off guard. They do seem nice. Thanks for that info.

I used a Lufkin 6ft folder for 25 years in my job. Now retired, I have been checking out some other offerings. I have a WIHA maxi-flex 2 meter rule, with inch in one side and metric on the other. I like that design because you can read either edge of the rule (whichever side you're using), but I would not get the black one again. The yellow one is much easier to read. I also have a Stabila 2 meter inch/metric. It is white, which is very easy to read, but they have the inch and metric on the same side, inch at the top, metric at the bottom. I like the WIHA design better.

I like Stanley or Rigid; I don't know if they make them in metric though. Make sure you get one with the sliding extension.

Used Lufkin INSIDE reading for 50 years being in the trade as a Pipefitter/ Welder.
Inside reading because you can open as much as needed and set on pipe or flat surface. Plus the inside doesn't wear out from going in and out of pocket.

I think the quality of the rule shown is pretty good.

The only thing I would say is that they are a bit bulky / heavy for many of the tasks that I would want to use a rule for.

Have you considered something like the rule below?

I like the Milwaukee version, and it is really inexpensive for a folding ruler.

The Wiha in the picture looks like it's a little different at the joints. The depth extension is nice too. Might have to look at that one, but in Imperial.

I have been using a 1m Kunststoffwerk AG Buchs/kwbswiss rule for a couple of years. Minor issue with some of the red numbers rubbing off, but the hinged parts have held up very well. Still works like new.

Looks like Wiha may own KWB.

I also have a few of the Swiss made rules. I think most of mine are branded Wiha but I might have others also. I like them but the outside lengths have started to bow out a little at the hinges. I also have some old USA made wood rules from Stanley, Lufkin and others. I think they're all 20 or older... a few are much older.
