Hey guys, I thought it would be fun to post our favorite garages of 2015.

My favorite is one designed and applied by my partner. The theme was Star Wars and the idea was to make it look like a garage landing zone floor. This floor was created in Franklin Lakes NJ and I think we nailed it.

The floor was diamond grinded, the design was hand drawn, saw cut and grouted in, so as to look like an inlay, rather than some faux painted lines.

Please post some of your favorites and any story or challenge about them. *Please note, this is not a contest, just a friendly showcase of 2015 garages.

Ok I am biting.
This floor was installed by our gang in Clermont, FL. It consists of:
  • Xtreme Polyaspartic 80 - Base Coat
  • Xtreme 80 (3) sealer coats
  • "Nightfall " Flakes- 1/4"
The gent who hired us is a BMW enthusiast. The bike to the far left was used in the filming of "Chips 99". :)

It's also the last pic in this short video:

man... i love that star wars theme. I really hope to see more! I'm moving into a 4,000 square foot facility and I'm trying to get ideas. Hoping to do it in January if these dang Florida temps ever cool off. :(

I'll Bite.

My favorite is mine, 10 years of hard use, paint, vehicle fluids, welding spatter, grinding dust etc...

For me it is the perfect floor, I don't give a **** what happens to it other than it mops up and allows me to move stuff around on it.

It's a bit time consuming... ground, densified, polished & sealed, but I like the end result!

Nice stuff guys! That Star Wars floor looks like a crazy amount of work. Must have been a ton of time just in the layout and saw cuts.

I did mine with Legacy primer/epoxy/urethane.

Finest looking floor that has or will be posted. It does what it was intended to do.

we have a winner :beer:looks like glass, what was used for that finish

Thanks! A local company did it. They filled cracks, ground floor and was 3 coats. Base of black, metallic silver and clear. Was a lengthy process but they said it was crucial to make it look flat and stick.

This was 48 hrs after coating. First thing people always ask, do you work on it. Yes I do. I have pads that I put under jackstands and floor jacks. If I want to drill, cut, weld or machine, I do that in my other (dirty) garage. This is my clean garage.

My floor was done by Stronghold Floors out of Baltimore. Major grinding and prep work. They filled and sealed all the cracks since the front half of the garage was from 1937. Laid a base coat of sealer, then a coat of gray, topped with red and blue 1/4 specks. Final coat of clear Polyaspartic Epoxy. Fantastic results. :D

Looks awesome. Must have cost a fortune to get them to do all that grinding upside down like that. :)

After reading these threads I really think the first thing I do when we move into the new shop next month is the flooring. I love seeing all of these floors and it really makes a difference in the spaces. Now I just have to come up with the budget and make a decision on which will be best :(

Oh, i'll be putting in alot of time and effort as well. Not quite sure how much time I'll have to do all the prep with the floors. But.. to me that's probably where I need to start first. Then work on the walls. From there, I would think I could do it as I afford it. Moving stuff in then trying to move it around to do floors/walls seems like I'd never get to it.

My work plan was the result of the addition to our home. It gave me the 2-car deep garage. The front (original garage area) I insulated and drywalled myself 15 years ago. The new area was drywalled via the build contract. I endured with all this until last year. If you saw my post in "Show your garage" thread, you would see the old workbench my neighbor gave me. That jumpstarted me. I refinished it and moved onto the wall painting, cabinets and then the floor.
