Best Garage Floor?

Or, at least so they say. FLEXMAR COATINGS sold by Slide-Lok dealers across the USA has a LIFETIME WARRANTY.

I urge anyone willing to spend the money (about the same as a professionally installed Epoxy floor) to check it out. I have a 1150 square foot floor.
If I purchased the BEST products on the market and did all the prep work, applied primer, applied two coats of 100% Epoxy and then two coats of urethane sealer it would still be INFERIOR to the Flexmar coating system.
In addition, I would have NO warranty or guarantee the floor would hold up.

I estimate the costs of purchasing the supplies, renting the equipment and then paying myself a fair hourly wage for the work ($30 per hour up to $50 per hour but even then I wouldn't do it) the cost of the multi-layer floor would be in excess of $3,000.

For that price it pays to consider a professional installer with lifetime warranty for the work.

Perhaps, Flexmar and POR 15 are similar products? Both claim to have flexibility unlike Epoxy. Both seem similar in the ability to "move" after drying.

If I was the Do-It-Yourself kind of guy I would go with POR 15 as it seems to be the next generation type product. I guess my cost for a 1150 square foot garage with POR 15 would be around $2,000 as I would still need to sand my old BIG BOX store water based junk off the garage floor.

What? I am a custom homeowner with a large home and garage. I do not work in the Construction field or any epoxy/paint/chemical comapany.

I am just a guy in search of the BEST PRODUCT on the market for a garage floor. In my opinion, the industry is working hard to improve garage floor products because this is the USA and that is how competition works.
I seriously doubt Epoxy is the final word on garage floors. Similarly, Flexmar Coatings will one day be obsolete. In the mean time, what other product offers a lifetime warranty on a garage floor? For those of us who have already spent $1,000 plus on crappy water based epoxy plus days of lost garage time the best product available matters. In addition, there are many on this board that may do the project "incorrectly" and end up with an epoxy floor that lasts 24 months. A lot of time, money and effort for not much result.

My thread is not "spam" and I would be happy to read a constructive post.

I called www.homeprofloors.com today. They have the new "garage floor" similar to flexmar. They consider it their best product and charge the most for it. They have Epoxy floors for $2-$2.50 per foot installed. The NEW ACRYLIC FLEXIBLE floor is the most expensive and they state it is 5 X stronger than Epoxy. They told me this NEW floor was better than a MULTIPLE layered Epoxy floor for wear.

I don't work for any of these companies just looking for a fair price on a great floor.

I was sold an acrylic floor protector and although it is glossy and pretty, carb cleaner and other chemicals instantly cut through it. You cannot wipe the spill up very well either because it gets all sticky.

I cant recommend any acrylics for a working garage now. Maybe this product you are promoting is a differnet formulation but I am shy of any acrylics now.

I am not promoting any type of floor or floor company. However, I am pointing out that quite a few large companies are heavily touting this type of floor as "the best" and the price refelects it.

Even the POR-15 is an expensive DIY product which seems similar to the floor being sold by Flexmar and homeprofloors. DOes it have a "downside"? Probably, but since it is new and relatively uncommon we don't know for certain it is not a working floor than can handle all types of auto fluids.

Yes I can see that point. What I'd really like to see is a thread started that lists how old these various floors are and how well they have been holding up and under what type of use.

In fact I think I'll start that new post right now!

I am thinking about putting the POR 15 product down myself instead of the dealer installed flexmar coating. My gut feeling is that these products are very similar but the Flexmar has a faster drying time between coats.

The POR 15 is one of the most expensive products out there for a DIYer.
I bet my cost (no labor) for my garage is over $1200. Still, even after renting a shot blaster and buying the product the savings over Flexmar is substantial.

Thats the real problem, there seems to be no "level" way to measure these various coatings, thier durability and the effectiveness.

Took a look at the website, looks interesting but not that different from some systems out there. Average mil thickness is 8-10, just like UCoat high gloss, Rustoleum Professional and Musclegloss. The Cure times look like the REAL advantage with this system. No pricing or Material Data specs on the website, will have to give them a call for more info. I'll pick there brain a little and see what spills out.
