So, Zio, did you remove your TLPPC yet? What sort of grinder did you use? How did it go? Any tips? :)

Will a standard "floor polisher" with a proper pad remove the TLPPC?

There are two things to keep in mind here (1) getting it off and (2) prepping floor for whatever you are doing next. If for example you were doing epoxy, you would have to grind anyway

I have not done anything to my floor for several reasons. One I just do not have time to grind my floor. Two I had to get my stuff out of the storage unit and my buddy's garage that I was using. So now I have a garage full of stuff that I have no where to put even if I had time to grind and epoxy. I really wanted to put the true lock tile down but even after my refund it would still cost me almost $1,000 which I simply don't have. So I guess I am just stuck with the floor as is for the foreseeable future. I think I'm just going to take the refund offered by Justin.

Well I ground my floor Labor Day weekend, wasted the whole weekend, 24 hours of grinding with A dual head edco. I started with the diamabrush and prep tool, was hardly scratching the surface. Took that back and went to a rental place and got the grinder.

My floor was power trowled and VERY hard. wish I woulda spent the extra money up front and went with the nohr - s as I did this second time around. Oh well, lesson learned, 450$ out the window because of a failed product.

Even better to get the email from Greta and Liberty mutual last Tuesday stating after "extensively looking into this issue, it has been decided that we are not going to cover it"

That's a bummer.. I'm not looking forward to grinding mine. Still can't move completely into the shop because I have to grind this floor and don't feel like moving stuff all over the place.

Greta is a joke as is the rest of the Liberty Mutual group and Eric at Ponderosa.

My letter said something about an exclusion in the coverage. I plan on picking up the grinder this week, been waiting on some more favorable weather before getting started

Yeah I got the same thing from the insurance company. "Please be advised we have determined that there is no coverage for this loss due to an exclusion in our insured’s policy. For this reason we must respectfully deny your claim under this policy."

My 3-car has floor cabinets, work benches, and all kinds of fixtures and stuff in it as well. Gotta unload all of it and move to the other garage before I rent a grinder. Has anyone found a good way to protect the walls from spray from a pressure washer? I have hung up clear plastic but can't get the bottom sealed to prevent water from going beneath it and spraying up the back. I may just have to keep the pressure washer wand a foot or two away from the wall and just vacuum the **** out of that 1' border.

Home Depot rents these, that's what I used. http://www.atlanticpressurewashers.com/Flat_Surface_Cleaners/

I started with the edco. Did good other than the damn wedges. On to the 4.5 diamabrush. Need to hunt down the hand tools to finish. Might try my right angle die grinder too.

This is why I'm keeping my bare floors.....way too many coatings with tire marks, lifting, yellowing, .....on and on and on. The expense, time, labor, mix time, pot life, temperatures, humidity, ......sounds like a college chemistry class. I'll save my money, time, labor and sweat and just vote "NO"!

rburke: a little drama keeps the ticker going.
Anyway, you know that 99% of the issues come here and we only see .0001% of the success stories. It's human nature.

My other garage has bare floors, but after 30 years they are looking bad. I thought I'd try a coating on the new floor.

My old garage floor was not coated/sealed. Always dusty. Now my new floor being coated/sealed, I don't hesitate at all to lay down and work on my car, without having to find the creeper. Read later about concrete dust. Definitely recommend not to leave bare.

I finally just went ahead and asked for my refund. I just did not have the time nor the space to put all my stuff to grind the floor and recoat. Not what I wanted but I don't really have any other choice right now.

Thanks for the help, both of you. Doing the floor was easier than I expected. I was nervous about the short pot life of the epoxy, but that wasn't an issue, ended up having to wait a bit between the rolling and flake. Luckily my cat tested the plastic at my garage door when I was starting the primer coat. She will have gray feet for a while.

Why do my photos get flipped upside down?

Sent from my SM-G935V using Tapatalk

Looks great! I think the upside down photo may be from having the phone or tablet inverted when taking the picture? I read about that somewhere but I just don't remember.

Good luck. After the edco machine I used the diamabush hand tool on my makita buffer. Kept it under 2500 so the shop vac would keep up and so I didn't gouge up the floor. Have a few fine shop vac filters on hand and change them frequently. It helps to see what your doing.

500sf. About 6-7 hours with the edco and 3-4 by hand. I spent a while getting the wedges right. The ones my rental company included were made from plywood. They lasted about a minute. Expect about 50-100 sf/hour if your floor is hard

It took me right about 24 hours over 3 days to grind mine off. Approx 2250 sq' of power trowled floor. It sucked, it was slow and miserable. I used a rented dual head edco

This is about what it took me. I agree it sucked. I used the dual head Edco for $350 in rental fee of the grinder as well.. Well, $149 and then $100 worth of stones... At least our local rental shop with let you get it on Friday and return it Monday for "one days rent."

I did find that using water helped and if you let the TLPPC "soak" long enough, large bits can be pressure washed off.

I've got to go back and hand grind this week, just haven't had time. Absolute worst time of year for me to be trying to do this and I'm racing the weather to get the epoxy down.
