Best hinges and drawer slides

Where would I find ridiculously heavy-duty OEM piano hinges -- maybe in stainless. McMaster-Carr's prices are pretty freightening for these

At the same time, a friend and I are messing around with making a large tool cabinet/box (pics coming!), and I've used some angle iron for frame and the same the drawer frame, and then welded sheet metal to that. The tolerances are pretty tight. They'll slide easier with lithium grease, I bet. But damn they're heavy and filled with tools, so far.

Anyway, I'd love to find a source for high-quality drawer slides. The most of the drawers will probably be heavier than tool truck boxes.

I know Knapt (spelling?) makes some, and I've been impressed with some of their stuff, but don't know the quality of their slides.

IKEA? Their stuff is usually pretty good quality. Drawer slides are $25 a pair up here.

I have a bunch of the 24'' ball bearing full extension drawer glides if you need them

I scored 4 sets of ball bearing server rails from work that didn't fit any of our equipment. They're about 29" deep and telescope out to 65" or so. They're designed to slide a 90# server (computer) out from the rack (cabinet) without sagging. I think each one weighs about 2#

Not sure what I'll do with them, but I hope to make some really strong drawers someday. You can find them cheap on craigslist when companies decommission old data centers.

Wonder if they'd be strong enough for you... Sounds like you are building a heck of a cabinet.

Accuride, is the best Heavy Duty slide that I have seen. I once worked for a bank where they were constantly complaining about the replacement slide they were using for the Teller's Coin Drawers. My boss had a fit when he saw what the Accuride slides cost, but years later they were still on the job as opposed to the few months for the cheap slides that belong on lingerie drawers.

Glad I looked in this thread. I have an enclosed trailer that I want to mount a generator and 2 welding machines in. 1 mig and 1 stick. I want to mount them on bearing slides. I have to cut 3 doors in the side of the trailer, build a frame inside to hold everything, mount the machines and walla, a trailer for doing Wrought Iron on the fly. I should be starting the project soon. So I guess I better get a camera so I can post step by step!

back a few years I helped a friend build a toolbox/storage box inside an enclosed trailer using the 24''accuride slides I have
worked out really slick, but it helped that he has a brake and shear

kind of gave me the idea to build a mondo sized toolbox out of stainless, of course now you can but those but back then I had yet to see one available

I like the Blum Slides, very nice with the soft close feature. I used them in some of the cabinets I put in the garage and love them.

They are not all that cheap, had them left over from a job I was working on.
