A couple of pointers on water panel humidifier installs:
Water panel humidifiers (and most reservoir types) need to be perfectly plumb in order to function properly and not leak. Use care when mounting.
These units work best when mounted on the return side of the system with the bypass hose is mounted to the supply. This prevents condensation inside the bypass hose when heated moist air runs through the conditioned space.
As previously mentioned, hot water works best.
These devices need a reliable drain and should never be mounted in areas where the temperature can fall below freezing.
They are not simple DIY jobs. You'll need a working knowledge of electricity and plumbing, as well as a good pair of tin snips and/or shears to cut the ductwork. You'll also need to tap the furnace controls or blower motor. I've installed hundreds of them and would quote 3 hours to get in and out. Most took less time, however some took more - and that's with a truck full of materials and tools within reach.
