Pratt and Lambert Accolade!!

SW and Benny Moore are also good. There are a lot of regional paints like Dunn Edwards, Miller, Rodda, etc that are also excellent.

The absolute worst is home center paints like Behr, Dutch Boy etc. All the pros have a saying; "it's better to have bare walls then Behr on the walls". The cheapest paint is usually the worst value!!

I like SW upper grade of paint. Talk to the guys there. I'd rather pay the cost upfront than not have a good job. I always do my own work so I just have the cost of materials.

So true. I've been a contractor my entire life. I'm 58. Ban and Sw are always top notch. SW pro classic white covers trim better than BM in any class. Only used DE once but seems to be a quality paint. Stick with the game brands and you'll do fine. It like the difference between installing an American Standard or Kohler VS. Mansfield or Eljer.

If you sign up for SW email announcements (and trust me I hate to sign up for any email advertising) SW will email you discount coupons. The discount can run 30 to 40%.

I am a paint contractor. Dunn Edwards spreads out much easier than Shewin williams products. SW comes off the roller with a stringy glue application. Block filler may not be an easy application unless you have the experience to back it up. We used to use a big airless to lay it on then back roll. It is needs to fill all the pours. I like to roll out a sheet of 15 pound felt paper under the wall as a drop or as a clean line to spray the bottom of the wall. Maybe the block is not the same as it was 20 years ago though. However on exterior in the weather projects I have found Dunn edwards to fall short compared to Sherwin Williams. Or Sherwin Millions. Ask them for a discount, everything at both stores is marked up at least 50% over what they really need.

I had a few rounds with cheap paint, now I only use Sherwin Williams. And the people that work there are usually knowledgeable and pretty helpful. In my experience they have recommended certain lines of paint, what kind I should use for what and helps with quantities. And spending a few minutes talking with them I always get promotions and discounts.

I also like that they keep record of your purchases so that if you go back later, they can pull exactly what type and color of paint you have purchased in the past.

And x2 on the SW emails, they don't flood your inbox and offer pretty good deals.
