I just got myself an iPad and was looking to find out what useful apps any of the brethren have found so far for it. I loaded all my PDF's of any powertools, etc... that i have accumulated so far as well as old books on machinist practices. I also transferred a bunch of Tivo shows onto it to watch when i am waiting in the car for family or going to doctors offices with them.

As far as free tool-related apps, so far i have loaded the Milwaukee 2010 tool catalog and the Snap-on 2011 catalog

I don't have an iPad, but on Android there is an app with maintenance reminders for my cars. Nice to not have to worry about missing something anymore. Also, I have a MPG app, Ebay and Sears.

I use Gas Cubby on the iPhone, but it is compatible with the iPad. Nice MPG calculations, maintenance reminders, maintenance expenditure calculations, etc. Nice to see your historical mileage, esp. with a diesel and see the difference with seasonal blended fuel.

I use the sears app, amazon app, and all sorts of craigslist apps for tool shopping. I have some car service manuals I've loaded onto it. I'm not too fond of getting it greasy by changing pages, but it was useful propping it up to look at the course of a serpentine belt / pulleys once.

there are multiple apps for tool guys.... I have a drill index app, a welding settings app, and bend radius app, screw identification app, etc etc etc....
if you can think of it, use the search in the itunes store, and most likely it will be there....

I thought I remember hearing about an app that alerts you to certain key words when they come on on craigslist. Like "Snap On" or "Blue Point", anyone know of something like this?

I have a very helpful app for my iPhone called Car Minder. It's for keeping track of car maintenance. I would think it is also made for the iPad.

I got an iPad recently and for what I do both professionally and with hobbies have found it to be very helpful.

I already have the Car Minder app on my phone, and since the iPhone is always with me...I left it that way.

I'm on here now just using safari (new iPhone). Awesome little gadget. It would be nice if there were a way to attach photos though.

I like Convertos for Android, they may have an iphone app too.

I use it alot for mm/cm to inch conversions, Celsius/Fahrenheit, and Voltage conversions. It does distance, weight, volume, pressure, length, power, currency, area, speed, temp, time, and even data storage..

Basically it can convert any form of measurement to anything.. The interface is simple, clean, and quick..

Get the photobucket app. That's how I do it. I'm on my iPhone now, Internet is dead.

I will check that out!

I saw that last night and wondered about it. Glad to know it's actually useful!
