Best Lab Scope-DMM Leads

Saw the quote below in the Things Snap-On Tool owners say.

Curious to what everyone likes, and what are the best options out there.

I didn't mean to have that sound like a pro snap- on statement, more so just about quality tools where ever they may be found.

Some of my best return in pay vs expenses are lab scope leads. And I certainly don't buy them from Snap On. Too short and I prefer not to have leads that require sharing a ground.

AESwave is who I buy them from, the ST3 leads.

They'll make whatever length and color you want. IMO the best value is buying the modis/verus test drive leads as they have detachable banana jacks at the Y split. Since snap on uses a shared ground this really decluttlers vs having the have the extra grounds wrapped up to be out of the way. When I use the leads on my picoscope, I can connect the ground lead section as the 4425 had differential inputs as God intended.

If using on a snap on device the kit for the modis/verus comes with a ground extension so you don't stack banana jacks on the ground input. You can buy this sperate for like 10 bucks, very worth it. Ever had too many banana jack connection at your ground to the battery and it makes your alligator clip wiggle? This removed that option.

I have two 6' leads in yellow and green for the snap on. If I want more channels I'm usually not using the snap on. My picoscope leads were originally a modis/verus kit, I just leave the ground lead connected.

IMO, it's best to buy the leads with banana jacks on both ends, then use adapters to BNC if needed. This way your test leads also double as extension leads and can stack onto one another, and can be used in a meter.

I use the 5 meter Pico branded leads from aeswave.com. They're very high quality, and the length is fantastic for working on the size of vehicles I have to deal with. I also have some self made leads that I used before buying the Pico leads; I bough some bulk 18 AWG silicone test lead and used BNC to 4mm adapters, running a separate lead with multiple ground connections, one to each channel. They worked, but I felt the need to test and validate them all the time. I haven't yet had a reason to question the Pico leads - I trust them about as much as my Fluke meters and leads.

It helps that my Picoscope is set up in a roll cart with a dedicated mini PC, so I can leave everything connected and simply loop the leads up and set them in the top compartment. Not having to set up and break down the scope every time I want to use it was a game changer.
