Just finished my garage late last year, its a 24'X24' and was debating florescent shop lights. But, now i am wondering if the new LED bulbs would be better to use in a standard light socket??

anyone have any experience with trying the new LED bulbs??

Thanks
Rodney

They're still a long way from being cost effective, especially somewhere like a garage where you need a lot of light. They are about the same efficiency as fluorescent lights. The places where they really 'shine' are for accent lights and flashlights...

I went with LED bulbs that I found in my local Costco they are manufactured by FEIT electric. They are a 75 watt daylight bulb rated at 6500k putting out 1170 lumens per bulb. I put up 12 in my 1.5 car garage. I am very happy with the amount of "natural" light that they throw off, and there is virtually no warm up even in cold weather. Best part they came in a box of 6 for $12.00 with a $6.00 rebate-a buck a bulb.
Please don't look too hard at the mess-the first pic is the install, next lights on and finally the view at night down low.
