Hello folks,

We have just installed new landscape lighting on our property. One of the last items on the list is somewhat whimsical; wrapping the trunks of two palm trees in our back yard. I've seen this done at various locations with either traditional individual mini-lights or rope lights. I realize that the lights have to be rated for outdoor use, and preferably something above consumer grade that will last for at least a few years. Looking for recommendations on what would be best, and perhaps what would last the longest? Thanks in advance.

I have not used these around tree trunks but I have used them under a lip on a raised patio. They require a transformer, can be made to change color and have a 1-year warranty. The install I did has been working outside for 2 years so far with no issues. Pro-level materials, priced accordingly.

I do mine with Christmas Lights and I only go up to 12 - 15 feet & use soft white - bright white is a Cold Light & wife does like it
I have 20 + queen palms only light up a few

they have different styles of lights

tree trunk ( think long skiny net lights )

regular - need to wrap the trunks w/ a long string

net lights - usually 4x6 - need to pay attention to to the plug connectors you would like the connectors along the 6 ft side one plug on the top & bottom of the wrap. ( wrap the tree 6 ft tall and 4 ft around the tree trunk - the other way would be 4 ft tall and 6 ft wrap ( 6 ft wrap is to long and have excessive wrap )

just buy a few extra sets to have on hand - Christmas stuff will be out for sale in the next week or 2 !
so keep an eye for it

lol

I also wrap around the back yard fence so I can see when I take the dogs out at night and they stay lit up until 9:30-10

I use a cheap photo cell outlet timer from depot to control on/off and timer

my tall palms lasted about a 15 months - They get abused when I trim the palms I use a Boom lift !
but
my frt porch pigmy date palms are coming up on 2 or 3 years this Christmas !
