Ok...I have the mastercool set, what's with the 37 degree add on??? Did I forget something?
Funny thing (or not so funny, depending on your perspective) is that the Mastercool 37 degree set includes the SAME four larger adapters (-4, -5, -6, and -8) as the 45 degree set, for the four largest tubing size. And just in case anyone reading this thinks they can get away with using a 45 degree flare for AN hardlines, think again![]()
No doubt works fine on single-flared copper. Won't be worth a **** for automotive work. Automotive work involves double-flared seamless-steel tubing, and (depending on the year of the vehicle) specialty flares such as in the photo in my previous post.I use this exact style of flare tool for HVAC copper pipes. It works great. go to HVAC store, it's about 40-50bucks

The cone and the dies are different for the 37 degree set, and the small (-3) adapter is different.
Yup. I agree and I'm aware everyone is recommending double flare for steel brake lines and such but the OP wasn't specific. ... You only need it for JIC type hydraulic flares. But if you do any AN fittings, those are 37 degree too. And just in case anyone reading this thinks they can get away with using a 45 degree flare for AN hardlines, think again![]()
ok, i was getting worried there for a minute. would be sweet to do AN hardlines...hate getting stabbed on the fingers. then i need a bigger bender, might as well buy the aluminium wrenches....more fittings....this place costs too much lol.
