Yup Eastwood set is easiest to use for brakes and other 37deg AN stuff I think ( extra die kits optional), it doesn't do fuel line few things the Mastercool does.... but does it faster and better nearly perfect even with an ID10T operator...and not as portable for use under the car repair.

saying that I have the mastercool sets for portability reaons only.....

OP . . . it does depend on what USE you plan on using flare kit.

Brake lines only ?? Fuel lines also ?? High pressure stainless steel ??

For brake lines and low pressure fuel lines, see those prior GJ threads and follow advice of GJer's with MasterCool or Eastwood.

However, for the Overall BEST flaring kit . . . I'd say Swagelok. They are world leader in flaring tools and fittings for high pressure (3,000 psi to 10,000 psi) stainless steel fittings for CNG, hydrogen, etc.

Ive had the mastercool since they came out with them I think about 15 yrs ago
I struggled with manual setups,Craftsman,Ridgid,Snapon,Eastman and none grip the tubing as good as the mastercool, plus its just so damn easy to pump a hydraulic pump vs cranking a screw and putting it in a vise.

I really like the Eaton Weatherhead kit. Pretty sure it's relabeled under the rigid nameI Got mine through NAPA. Best one I've used. I'll get some pictures tomorrow.

I also use the Mastercool kit with no complaints. Does not need a vice like the Eastwood set, so if you need to do brake work on the vehicle, go for it.

Ok...I have the mastercool set, what's with the 37 degree add on??? Did I forget something?

You only need it for JIC type hydraulic flares. But if you do any AN fittings, those are 37 degree too. And just in case anyone reading this thinks they can get away with using a 45 degree flare for AN hardlines, think again ;)

Here are those pictures, this kit makes some of the best flares I've ever seen, I used snap on, matco, otc, and this thing beat em all. Would love to give that mastercool kit a try though. 3fa333787ea054659d71eaf0ec4c1112.jpge8d1ce5270613acf0a4c531214cca27e.jpgbc981e1eec6781b1c35881485dab19a3.jpg

Funny thing (or not so funny, depending on your perspective) is that the Mastercool 37 degree set includes the SAME four larger adapters (-4, -5, -6, and -8) as the 45 degree set, for the four largest tubing size.

The cone and the dies are different for the 37 degree set, and the small (-3) adapter is different.

I use this exact style of flare tool for HVAC copper pipes. It works great. go to HVAC store, it's about 40-50bucks
No doubt works fine on single-flared copper. Won't be worth a **** for automotive work. Automotive work involves double-flared seamless-steel tubing, and (depending on the year of the vehicle) specialty flares such as in the photo in my previous post.

Ya, I was a bit pissed when I figured that out after spending the coin.

Yup. I agree and I'm aware everyone is recommending double flare for steel brake lines and such but the OP wasn't specific. ... I'm just trying to contribute

ok, i was getting worried there for a minute. would be sweet to do AN hardlines...hate getting stabbed on the fingers. then i need a bigger bender, might as well buy the aluminium wrenches....more fittings....this place costs too much lol.
