Pardon my horrible drawing. My shop is 24x40 with 12ft eves and 15ft center on the ceiling. Based off the drawing where is the best place to install the mini split.

On the right bay I will have a 2 post lift and under the second floor on the left I will have all my tools and workbench etc. I plan on putting in a couple fans to help circulate air in the shop.

If you have fans to circulate the air I would mount the unit at the location indicated by the arrow with the #2. Keep in mind you aren't cooling your living room for relaxing comfort. You're cooling a working space. My shop is L shaped & about 475 sq.ft. Everyone wanted to size my mini-split as if I were going to cool a house in a hurry. I downsized the unit to more realistic specs. With two fans circulating the air I can have my shop in the 70's on a 99/100 deg. day. On my third year with the unit & couldn't be happier.

The only wallspace in my garage that I will not likely hang anything is over the entry door. Perhaps that would be a space-efficient location for you? I realize the condenser will be further away, unless it is moved to the side of the shop.

I was looking at 36k BTU mini split and leaning toward location #2. I have a mini split in my game room (dont know the BTU) and it works good but I have ceiling fans in there moving air. It will get down in the 60's with no problem.

I found it's better have the AC (lower than set temp air) directly blowing on you first then worry about cooling the other areas. So place it where you are working hard, other cars and equipment don't care how hot it is.
Location 2 is centralized but do you get the breeze at the lift?

I am planning on having a fan on the wall in front of the lift. I have a mini spit in my game room and if I dont have the fans on in there you can only feel the cool air directly in front of it. You probably wouldnt feel it under a car even if it was in front of the lift without fans going.

and FWIW the outside unit should be on the side with the least wind.

I did not know that, was going to put it on a slab next to my air compressor outside. It would be facing the same direction my other mini split is and my other 2 big AC units for my house.

I would suggest that you raise the condensing unit up off the deck. Easier to service, keeps them cleaner and perhaps most importantly in freezing climates, allows the condensate to drain out.

Most of the 24kbtu units (that I am familiar with) and larger have 4-way air sweeps so you will get some side to side distribution. I agree with TOW1 on the second evaporator.
