Best lubricant for winter tool storage

Since I've moved into my new shop, about twice a year (once in the spring and fall) I get some heavy condensation that leaves everything wet. I've got a new Lennoz furnace and very well insulated..thinking about adding some ceiling fans.

Anyway..that being said I'm beginning to notice on some my tools some slight rust. I'm a Snap on freak and have tons of tools. What are you guys using to wipe down your tools with and apply a coat of protection...AND...where do you buy it.

I've tried the whole WD 40 thing and am not impressed.

Mix WD 40 half and half with automatic transmission fluid as a wipedown? (just a guess)
I think someone on this forum has mentioned "Boeshield", that might be expensive.

Any acid and corrosive materials stored inside will only exacerbate the situation. I bought a dehumidifier and am happy with the results, cost about a dollar a day to run. I have it plumbed into the drain, because I got tired of emptying the holding tank twice/three times a day at peak performance.

It can be had at places like Midway, I think.

Sears used to sell it in a 2-pack, one aerosol and one not-aerosol for like $20. They were decent size, so you'd get a lot of mileage.

Some place like Grainger might carry it as well.

Boesheild is used for corrosion prevention in aviation--apparently hence the name. *Supposed* to be good stuff. I haven't used it, but really am looking to pick some up. Didn't see any at Sears last time I was there.

Howes lubricator is fairly good and it doesn't seem to harm anything I've ever put it on also no funky smell and it does wipe off ok.

I've had good luck with Tool Buddy by Lucas that I get at TSC for about $4.00 a can. That being said I've always heard that Bo-shield is very good as well.

I would try LPS 3

X2 on this. When we get those first nice days of spring or fall then we want to open the doors and let the air in. If its cold in the shop and warm out then condensation will happen. I have used LPS3 for long term protection but would not suggest forshort term as it is a deal to clean it off, very waxy.

Perhaps try some of that, OP. I've read good things about it as well. But WD40 has been working well enough for me so far.

A_PMech and DrkMtnDew are correct... you need a dehumidifier. Even though I use EEZOX when needed, I would never consider getting rid of my dehumidifier. Having humidity-controlled air is a very good thing. If you don't want to empty it manually, get one with a pump. A decent one isn't dirt cheap, but they easily pay for themselves.
