As I get older seeing close up is not what it once was. I have an optivisor but I do so much of this I would like to get a very good one and powerful magnification. I also double use this for splinters for the kids etc. Curious to know what you might use for your finer jobs like this.

Thank you in advance.

I have the OptiSIGHT, which is a lighter version of the OptiVisor, and am very happy with it.

Not sure what the "better than an OptiVisor" option are.

Carson Optical Pro. The LED light really comes in handy, it comes with 4 different lenses (1.5x, 2x, 2.5x, 3x) and it works great. I use it all the time

I will have to look into the more power optivisor. I believe mine is the 2x and I see they have a 3.5x that might just be the thing. If I am doing carburetor jets especially I like to see everything.

I purchased on older Optivisor off of eBay in hopes of getting something of better quality than current Optivisor production. Look for the aluminum headband knobs vs. plastic.

At 55 years old, this thing is a Godsend for intricate work.

A Donegan Optivisor with a glass lens is about as good as you can get. Mount a Zebralight headlamp to the brim. (neutral/floody). A 10 diopter glass lens will be the most powerful.

(Don't buy the LED add ons for an Optivisor. They're based on very primitive LED technology.)

If that's not enough, your next step is a stereo microscope. (ex: Leica A60F)

My dentist wears a headband with two tiny monoculars. Does anyone know what search term will let me find those?

I talked with my Dentist about his. He informed me that it a custom made unit that is north of $1k, way out of my budget..

That's what I heard about those ones. Maybe I will find a used one. It's nice to have heavy magnification but be able to sit back at arms length or so. I found the optivisor one but the 3x one has only inches for a working length which isn't quite so comfortable.
